Joseph

Joseph Girgenti (woodwinds) is the Music Teacher at Walter Bickett Elementary School in Monroe, NC. He previously served as the Elementary Band Director for the Monroe Cluster, where he taught beginning band, assisted with the middle and high school bands, and directed the jazz bands. Joseph is the current Chair-Elect for the Elementary Section of the North Carolina Music Educators Association. In addition, Joseph teaches clarinet and saxophone lessons in the Union County area.

Joseph received a Bachelor in Music Education degree from Wingate University in 2015 and a Master of Music degree from East Carolina University in 2018. He is an avid researcher, focusing on student leadership and world music pedagogy. His Master’s thesis is titled “Band Director Perceptions of Student Leadership.”

In addition to Real Deal Jazz, Joseph has continued to perform with the Wingate University Wind Ensemble for 10 consecutive seasons.
