Speaking to Decibel for the magazine's February 2013 cover story, one of the Nameless Ghouls stated about GHOST's decision to use Raskulinecz: "The reason we wanted to work with Nick was because all the recordings he has produced sound uniquely like those bands. The RUSH album he did sounded like a RUSH album. The ALICE IN CHAINS album sounded like ALICE IN CHAINS; the FOO FIGHTERS sounded like FOO FIGHTERS, and so on. Whereas there are producers out there who are very fond of stamping whatever record they're producing with their own sort of sound. Nick is not one of those, and he seemed to be one of the few who seemed to understand our archaeological approach when it comes to our sound, which is something that we began doing on the first record. Now, with more resources, we're doing what we set out to do, which is to make a record that sounds like a real expensive record done in 1978, as opposed to a lo-fi album done in the '70s. Nick is one of the few who understood what we meant by that, and he's very devoted to Satan."

I was sleeping in my aunt's room when around midnight I heard Hazel jump off the bed and start chasing something around the floor. It sounded like she was playing with a plastic bag. This is not normal behavior for her in the middle of the night.

The odd rustling sound seemed to leave the room and go into the dark hallway, where it continued. I worried perhaps the other dog Henry had gotten caught in a grocery sack somehow, and needed my help. At his advanced age he certainly wouldn't play with anything. The sound stopped as I turned on the hallway light, but Henry wasn't there. I found him on the living room couch sleeping peacefully like a fat old angel. As paranoid as I felt, there was nothing to do but return to the bedroom and try to go back to sleep.

In the morning I searched all the rooms for anything that could have made that noise, but I found nothing. When my aunt returned from her trip I asked her if she had ever experienced unexplained sounds in her house. She confided that she frequently hallucinates hearing something run through her bedroom squeaking during the night. This is absurd because her family has never seen the first sign of a rodent during all the years they have lived in their home.

Both species have impressive claws in relation to their body size, with the dominant claw much more pronounced in the male. He uses this as a weapon during mating season, to ward off other potential admirers from his chosen partner. Good thing ghost shrimp only get to be about 5 inches long, or that monstrous claw would be enough to scare us away too!

None are. I turned off the sounds for all of them the last time this happened. Badges and banners are all that's on. What's odd is I can't find the sound on the phone. And I didn't think apps were allowed to bring their own sound?

I've seen some games do this. Some of them are pretty darn sneaky. Even though the phone is set to not notify me of anything, it still finds a way to make a sound here and there. My girlfriend has this ridiculous Simpson's game and every once in a while, you hear Homer say something. It's not a notification of any kind. In fact, they're all off. No crops(or whatever she does on it) are ready. It just makes the sound.

I am not sure how yours sound but mine is like a swirl or whoosh (but it same as sending e mail) I am with you...idk how to google it! THis strange sound began with my iPhone 6 that prompted me to get the iPhone 8 plus. But the strange sound followed! I have deleted 50% of my apps but it continued. Just like yours, it occurs at random times without rhyme or reason. I am beginning to think it is one of the apps I frequently use. But which one? If it is FB, why is it not doing the same to my iPad & iPad mini?

Both mine and my husband's iPhone 7's have started to make a sound like a sonar binging/echoing. It's one long, six short, "Booong, bip bip bip bip bip bip". It absolutely freaks me out. Sometimes it happens in the middle of the night, sometimes the middle of the day. It can happen while it's plugged in or just in my pocket. I also can't find anything that it correlates to as far as incoming mail/messages/notifications. I've tried turning off all notifications in settings. It happens several times a week on each phone. It sounds like the Russian hackers are about to blow us up. This is my first thought every time, and that is WITHOUT any THC. Or the best case scenario, Will has leapt out of Netflix and is trying hard to contact us. Who's paranoid now?!!! If someone could tell me what it is and how to stop it, it would probably keep me from tossing my phone over a bridge one of these days, not to mention save my husband's sanity as he is getting pretty tired of hearing about how much I don't like it.

Help! What was the solution here? I'm checking forums, I've done a number of suggestions and my husband is about to lose his mind. I finally heard the sound today, its totally like a gong and I have turned off notifications, the payment settings etc; unsure what else to do.

Suggestions appreciated!

A month later, I woke up one night around 4 a.m. My body was covered in goose bumps. It felt like someone was rubbing his or her hands on me. Everything was silent, but then I heard a dragging sound coming from above my bed. It was as if someone was pulling a sack of potatoes. I froze, convinced someone was up there. There is no way an animal could make that sound. After five minutes, I worked up the courage to turn on the light, armed myself with a cricket bat and walked to the bathroom.

This real-life ghost story concerns a man named Frederick Jordan, who held one of the most lonely and desolate jobs in existence. Jordan was the lighthouse keeper for Penfield Reef Lighthouse off the coast of Fairfield, Connecticut.

Many believe that baby Virginia grew into a beautiful young woman, one who eventually fell into a doomed love affair with a native warrior by the name of Okisko. To this day, she haunts the woods in search of her man, often in the form of a diaphanous white deer, one that always vanishes at dawn. According to NCPedia, a state encyclopedia maintained by the North Carolina Government & Heritage Library, longtime residents of the island have no doubt that the identity of the phantom deer is the ghost of Virginia Dare.

Since then, Schmale has been said to haunt the town. Those who have seen him say he appears as a ghostly male figure, but as soon as the figure registers in your mind, it disappears (somewhat maddeningly) into the darkness. That seems like the perfect ending to the best of ghost stories.

Within ghost hunting and parapsychology, electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are sounds found on electronic recordings that are interpreted as spirit voices. Parapsychologist Konstantns Raudive, who popularized the idea in the 1970s, described EVP as typically brief, usually the length of a word or short phrase.[1]

Enthusiasts consider EVP to be a form of paranormal phenomenon often found in recordings with static or other background noise. Scientists regard EVP as a form of auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in one's own language) and a pseudoscience promulgated by popular culture.[2][3] Prosaic explanations for EVP include apophenia (perceiving patterns in random information), equipment artifacts, and hoaxes.[4][5]

Another electronic device specifically constructed in an attempt to capture EVP is "Frank's Box" or the "Ghost Box", created in 2002 by EVP enthusiast Frank Sumption for supposed real-time communication with the dead. Sumption claims he received his design instructions from the spirit world. The device is described as a combination white noise generator and AM radio receiver modified to sweep back and forth through the AM band selecting split-second snippets of sound. Critics of the device say its effect is subjective and incapable of being replicated, and since it relies on radio noise, any meaningful response a user gets is purely coincidental, or simply the result of pareidolia.[18] Paranormal researcher Ben Radford writes that Frank's Box is a "modern version of the Ouija board... also known as the 'broken radio'".[19]

In 1997, Imants Barus, of the Department of Psychology at the University of Western Ontario, conducted a series of experiments using the methods of EVP investigator Konstantin Raudive, and the work of "instrumental transcommunication researcher" Mark Macy, as a guide. A radio was tuned to an empty frequency, and over 81 sessions a total of 60 hours and 11 minutes of recordings were collected. During recordings, a person either sat in silence or attempted to make verbal contact with potential sources of EVP.[13] Barus stated that he did record several events that sounded like voices, but they were too few and too random to represent viable data and too open to interpretation to be described definitively as EVP. He concluded: "While we did replicate EVP in the weak sense of finding voices on audio tapes, none of the phenomena found in our study was clearly anomalous, let alone attributable to discarnate beings. Hence we have failed to replicate EVP in the strong sense." The findings were published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration in 2001, and include a literature review.[13] 006ab0faaa
