WORDS FROM OUR COORDINATORS
"Though it takes a lot of work to plan the program, I love
interacting and talking to the students. I started to develop a
soft spot for each of them and genuinely want to see them
grow and improve."
"Seeing the kids start to get comfortable with the program
and start opening up was so rewarding. They were learning,
and having fun with each other and their tutors while doing
it. That was what made me feel like this program is really
TIFFANY & JESSICA
"It was wonderful to see teen volunteers acting as mentors to the children who needed the help to improve their English. The friendship, the teaching, the interaction were awesome to be able to witness. Most of the volunteers are very mature, so it was very little time that I had to step in to help. The coordinators, Tiffany and Jessica are wonderful. They have been working with me to host the RWD program for 3 summers. I really appreciate their help and their position energy to set example for both tutor volunteers and students during the program. Thank you very much! I hope you will offer the partnership to SFPL again next summer."
- Ms. P, Children's Librarian, Parkside Branch
"It was rewarding to me when I saw my kids achieve some sort of milestone as well as when they were invested in their work and when they wanted to be in class."
- Robert, RWD tutor
"It gave Aiden some structure for the summer. He never complained but, actually enjoyed going to the program. He improved on his reading immensely."
- Corina, RWD parent
"Overall, I think that it was a good experience and I liked being able to work with the kids and provide them with one on one help that they needed."
- Charlotte, RWD tutor
