1. Overview
ReadScroll is a Chrome extension that helps users read long web pages hands-free by automatically scrolling the current page or a large scrollable area at a user-selected speed.
This Privacy Policy explains how ReadScroll handles information and makes clear that ReadScroll does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information, browsing history, URLs, page content, or form inputs.
ReadScroll is designed to work locally in your browser. It does not collect personal information, browsing history, page content, URLs, form inputs, or other user data.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
ReadScroll does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any of the following information:
- Personal information, such as your name, email address, address, or phone number
- Browsing history
- URLs of pages you visit
- Page text or page content
- Form inputs or text you enter into websites
- Login information
- Payment information
- Location information
- Analytics or advertising identifiers
- User activity history
ReadScroll does not monitor your browsing activity and does not send browsing data to any external server.
3. Information Stored Locally
ReadScroll stores only your scroll speed setting.
This setting is saved locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage so that ReadScroll can remember your preferred scroll speed the next time you use it.
The scroll speed setting is not personal information. It is not transmitted to the developer or to any external server.
4. How ReadScroll Works on Web Pages
When you start ReadScroll from the extension popup, the extension runs auto-scroll controls on the active tab selected by you.
To perform auto-scrolling, ReadScroll may check the page structure and scroll state in your browser to detect a suitable scrollable area. For example, it may identify whether the page itself or a large scrollable area inside the page should be scrolled.
This processing is performed locally in your browser. ReadScroll does not collect, store, or transmit page content, URLs, form inputs, or browsing history.
5. Permissions Used
ReadScroll uses the following Chrome extension permissions:
activeTab:
ReadScroll uses this permission to run auto-scroll controls on the current tab after you interact with the extension popup.
scripting:
ReadScroll uses this permission to inject local extension scripts into the current tab in order to control scrolling.
storage:
ReadScroll uses this permission to save your scroll speed setting locally in your browser.
ReadScroll does not request broad host permissions. It works on the active tab after you interact with the extension popup.
6. No External Transmission
ReadScroll does not transmit browsing content, page text, URLs, user settings, personal information, or form inputs to any external server.
ReadScroll does not use external APIs, analytics tools, advertising trackers, or remote data collection services.
7. No Remote Code
ReadScroll does not load or execute remote code.
All JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and image assets required by the extension are included in the extension package.
8. No Third-Party Sharing or Sale
ReadScroll does not sell, share, rent, or provide user data to third parties.
Because ReadScroll does not collect user data, there is no user data to sell or share.
9. Children’s Privacy
ReadScroll is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
