# Privacy Policy for Readream Pro
Effective date: July 23, 2026
This policy applies to Readream Pro for Android, package ID `com.readream.pro`. “Readream” means the developer and publisher of the app.
Readream Pro is an offline-first reader, writing, and study app. It has no advertising, analytics, account system, behavioral tracking, or developer-operated cloud service. Your books, writing, saved text, and reading activity are not uploaded to the Readream developer.
## Data kept on your device
Readream Pro keeps the following information in its private app storage:
- Documents you select for import, including prepared or converted copies needed for reading.
- Book details such as file name, title, author, format, size, cover, collections, favorite status, and import status.
- Reading position, progress, recent activity, bookmarks, text marks, notes, vocabulary entries, narration position, and reader settings.
- Writer projects, chapters, revisions, project details, word-count goals, and exported drafts.
- Imported reader fonts, downloaded voice models, and voice preferences.
If a document needs a password, the app holds that password in memory only while the document is open. It does not save the password.
Android cloud backup is disabled for Readream Pro. The app does not copy this local data to a Readream server.
## File access and notifications
Readream Pro uses Android’s document picker and share system. It can read only the files you select or send directly to the app. It may copy a selected document into private app storage so the document remains available and large files can be prepared without changing the original.
On supported Android versions, the app may ask for notification permission. Notifications show progress for a file preparation or voice-model download that you started. Denying notification permission does not give Readream access to any extra data.
## Text-to-speech
For Android system voices, Readream Pro passes book text to the text-to-speech engine selected on your device. The app offers voices that Android reports as not requiring a network connection. The text-to-speech engine is separate software supplied by your device maker or another provider; its handling of text is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
Piper and Kokoro narration runs on your device after you install an optional model. Readream does not upload book text, selected passages, notes, or generated audio for neural narration.
## Optional voice-model downloads
Readream Pro uses the internet only when you request an optional Piper or Kokoro model download. Model files come from the `k2-fsa/sherpa-onnx` open-source release repository hosted by GitHub. A download request can reveal ordinary connection information to GitHub, including your IP address, request time, and standard network headers. The request does not include your books, writing, notes, reading history, or selected text.
Downloads use HTTPS. Readream checks the expected file size and SHA-256 digest before it installs a model, and the installed files remain in private app storage until you remove them or clear the app’s data. GitHub handles connection information under its [General Privacy Statement](https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement).
## Search, translation, sharing, and links
Readream Pro sends content to another app or website only after you choose an external action:
- Search and dictionary actions pass the selected word or query to Android’s search service or open a Google Search URL in your browser.
- Translate opens Google Translate in a browser or compatible app with the selected text included in the request.
- Share and export send the book excerpt, note, vocabulary item, document, or Writer project you choose to the destination app or storage location you select.
- Links inside supported documents and legal notices may open in your browser or another compatible app.
Once another app or website receives that information, its privacy policy applies. Readream does not control how that destination handles the data.
## Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you remove the related book, saved item, Writer project, or voice model; clear Readream Pro’s app data; or uninstall the app. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes the app’s private local files. It does not remove copies you exported or shared to another location.
There is no Readream account to close and no cloud library for the developer to delete.
## Support messages
If you contact Readream support, the developer receives the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, screenshots, or attached files. This information is used to answer your request and investigate the issue. Do not send private books, manuscripts, or notes unless they are needed for the support request and you have the right to share them.
You may ask for a support message and its attachments to be deleted by using the privacy contact below, unless retention is required by law.
## Children
Readream Pro is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not ask for a date of birth and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the app. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent personal information to support may request its deletion.
## Changes to this policy
The effective date at the top will change when this policy changes. Material changes will be posted at the public policy URL used in Google Play and, where practical, described in the app or its store listing.
