Nazareth Convent High School
On Tuesday,6th February 2024, Nazareth Convent High School celebrated 'Reading Day' with enthusiasm and participation from students and teachers alike. The initiative aimed to foster a love for reading and create a conducive environment for silent reading.
In a unique approach, students were encouraged to bring books or newspapers from home. The 2nd and 3rd periods saw all classes being assigned different locations within the school premises for silent reading sessions. These locations included the hall, the area in front of the building, the lawn, the basketball court, the corridors, and the audio-visual room.
As the students settled into their designated spots, a serene silence enveloped the school, creating a tranquil atmosphere conducive to focused reading. The commitment to silence extended throughout the school, fostering an environment where everyone could immerse themselves in the joy of reading.
The students were visibly delighted to have a dedicated Reading Day. Their engagement and contentment were evident as they flipped through pages absorbed in their chosen literature. The initiative not only promoted reading but also encouraged students to explore different genres and materials.
Inspired by the positive response towards reading, we have decided to make it a recurring event in our school, enriching the academic excellence for our students through a continued focus on literature.
What was particularly heartening was the active participation of the teachers. Even they embraced the opportunity to engage in silent reading, setting a positive example for the students. This shared experience strengthened the bond between students and teachers, promoting a culture of learning beyond the confines of traditional classrooms.
In conclusion, Reading Day at Nazareth Convent High School proved to be a resounding success, instilling a sense of joy and appreciation for reading among the students. The silent reading sessions in diverse locations added a refreshing dimension to the usual school routine, making the day memorable for everyone involved.
