Josh Flancer (he/him/his) is a Socal native who just graduated from UCLA in Linguistics and Computer Science. This is the first song that he's ever written for himself, with no external deadlines or reasons to do so. He's very excited to be here.

How Does Your Identity Affect Your Work?

Karaoke is a very popular staple of Filipino culture, and I was immersed into singing from the age of two by my Filipino grandma. Growing up, the Jewish side of my family constantly played jazz standards around me and it's resulted in my love for the styles of R&B and jazz. For this specific song, I tried to shape it halfway between a Jeremy Passion song and a jazz standard through a ukulele.
