Artist Bio

Jessica Liu (she/her/hers) is a hobbyist artist hailing from the Chicago area. She studies business at the University of Pennsylvania. Jessica is new to using visual art as a form of self-expression, but she has truly enjoyed the journey so far and hopes to tell stories through her drawings someday.

How does your identity/heritage shape your art?

I was inspired to learn how to draw by many amazing Asian artists I saw online, and my art style carries their influence. My heritage and cultural background have always shaped the way I viewed the world, but until now, I had been afraid to be vulnerable in my drawings. I describe this piece as “A sea of opportunity, but chained by expectations.”
