James Hoang Nguyen (he/him/his) is a Vietnamese American interdisciplinary teaching artist founded in music, dance, and creative writing. His practice focuses on cross-cultural connectors and integrative works that emphasize process, collaboration, and narrative. He is an advocate for safe, accessible spaces for open exploration.

How Does Your Identity Affect Your Work?

Growing up in what felt like the in-between, I was always at a loss for what identity even meant to me. In time, art provided a means for me to process and understand not simply who I am but also -why- I am. My art continues to be a journey back to self, fueled by the history of my heritage and how I engage with the world.
