How Does Your Identity Affect Your Work?
As an Asian American immigrant growing up in a predominantly white town, my identity was always unclear to myself. This painting "Legacy:Roots" is a result of my feelings towards the practice of legacy playing a part in college admissions. My roots and my legacy are not from a prestigious institution but from the home decorated with grape vines of my maternal grandparents in rural China.
