It can be lonely to feel like the only person worrying about social and environmental injustice. You're seeing broken systems and the harm they cause all around you and it seems that everyone else is either refusing to see them or they just don't care.
Through three novels, this course attempts to connect you to almost 100 years of historical -- and 25 years of future -- fighters. You will explore strategies that have been tried in order to see which worked, which failed, and why so that you can decide for yourself how you want to create a better future for all.
At the heart of this course is the belief that our relationships are the source of our collective power to find creative directions towards change. These relationships are also at the heart of these novels.
The novels focus on relationships: families, communities, nations, corporations, in-groups and out-groups. Our discussion will focus on who those relationships benefit, how those relationships break down, and what we can do to improve our own relationships moving forward.
This course provides an opportunity to connect with a small group of other people who care so we can feel less isolated, and have people with whom we can grieve what is happening, imagine something better, and work towards that something better.
