The Carmel Agri-Learning Farm is among the farm schools in Camarines Sur tapped by the Department of Education as partners for the Work Immersion Program of secondary education institutions.
A 10-day hands-on crop, livestock, and organic farming immersion and training is provided by the farm to senior high school students from Central Bicol State University for Agriculture, Partido Agri-Industrial National School, Ocampo National High School, Sta. Maria High School, San Antonio National High School, and Buhi St. Joseph Academy, Inc. Students from Caritas College of Irosin, Sorsogon also rendered immersion activities at the farm and recently, the Coguit High School of Balatan, Camarines Sur signified intent to undertake the immersion program at the farm.
Carmel Farm is duly accredited by the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute as a learning site for agriculture and with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority as a Technical Vocational Institution - Farm School for the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund Program and NC II Organic Agriculture Program. Further, Carmel Farm has an existing agreement with BIXTER, a Europe-based training entity for agriculture graduates.
Mr. Santiago Cervantes, Bicol RDC’s private sector representative for farmers and Carmel Farm owner, expressed that it is a pleasure serving the students so they can graduate in their respective fields and develop an in-depth interest in agriculture, and be ready for their roles as future farmers of the region.
