This isn't the life Jason wanted for himself

Jason Rose was only twenty-one when his mother died in a car accident. He was working at his mother's diner at the time as a cook. Something he loved doing, something he could see himself doing for the rest of his life. Cooking, making people happy with the food he made. But when he got that phone call, when he rushed to the scene of the accident. It was like everything was pushing him to this life.

There was a man who ate at the diner frequently. His name was Gabriel, Jason always had a bad feeling about him. Like he was staring at the devil himself. Gabriel offered Jason a job, he had bills to pay, the restaurant wasn't going to last a month without Liliana, and he had a sister to take care of. As the devil would, Gabriel took advantage of the weak. Jason had no choice. He already spent most of his mother's savings on his sister's hospital bills, and he had to take her quinceanera money to pay for their mother's funeral.

Jason got his hands dirty doing Gabriel’s dirty work. And once you get the taste for blood, you either feel great regret or nothing at all. Jason felt in control, he felt powerful, like a god who could pick and choose who lives and dies. The only time he got back to earth was seeing Scarlet, he needed to be careful for her,

the money was great, he became Gabriel’s right hand man. It could have been enough, it should have been enough until he overheard something he shouldn’t have. The man in the car accident was Gabriel’s brother. Now Jason just wanted revenge. Jason took everything he learned and used it against Gabriel. Maybe if Gabriel was kinder to his men, then they wouldn’t have stood and watched as Jason took over.
