Congratulations to both Connor Hitt and Aubrey Lawler for running well in the steeplechase for Northern Counties today.
Aubrey ran to a 26 second pr in the 2000m sc, dipping under 9:00 for the first time by finishing in 8:57.5!
Connor ran from the front in the 3000m sc during the whole race, and pulled away over the last 500 meters to win in a personal best of 10:28.7!
Great job by both athletes!

FDR Race at the Oval Office Recap:
Another weekend and another outstanding performance by our boys and girls track teams.
During the morning session, Angie Odeniyi led the way with a 1st and 2nd place finish in the discus and shot put, respectively. Savana Stevenson also performed well by placing 2nd and 3rd in the 100m dash and the 100m hurdles. I didn't know she did the hurdles. And although Jianna Brown did not vault her best, 6 feet was enough to win the event!
During the afternoon session, Abby Kowalczyk was a double winner, easily outdistancing her competition in both the 1500 and 800-meter runs. The combined time of her wins was 50 seconds faster than her competition! Jocelyn Lichwick is showing improvement from her ankle injury, placing second in the 100m hurdles with a season-best time. Hailey Hrouda placed 3rd in the shot put with a pr of 30 feet, and also achieved a 4th place finish in the discus throw.
For the second week in a row, the varsity boys flexed their muscles by placing third overall in the team competition. It all started with the 3000-meter steeplechase where Connor Hitt finished first without exerting too much of an effort. The same cannot be said for Nick Castorina who had to hold off his friend from FDR down the final straight to win the 800-meter run in 1:59.46. This was his first time breaking the 2-minute barrier! Also placing first was Jon Scampoli in the shot put.
In the mile (1600m run), the trio of Eddy Corporan, Nick Taylor and Liam Cassidy all set personal bests. Both Eddy and Nick had never run the event before, so there was a bit of trepidation on their part. Could they break 5:00 like their coach hoped for? Absolutely! Both Eddy (4:53.78) and Nick (4:54.72) easily broke through the barrier by finishing 4th and 5th, respectively.
In the relays, the distance running contingent of Connor, Nick, Eddy and Nick gave FDR a run for the money, finish in 2nd with a solid time. Ty Wagner filled in for Kaiden Turner who was sick and held his own by helping the 4x100m relay team to a 3rd place finish. The 4x400m relay was left to the athletes to decide who was going to run it. John Hartmann suggested that he wanted to be a part of it. Since when does a runner from the 4x100m relay volunteer to run a 400m leg of the 4x400m relay? John's leg in 55.76 was the best of them all, and helped his team to a 4th place finish.
There were a couple of other surprises for the day as well, including a 4th place finish in the 110 hurdles by Sean O'Brien in the 110m HH, which he followed up by a 2nd place finish in the 400 IH. Both times were pr's! Where has he been for the last three years? In the long jump, Rowan Faulkner has found his event, finishing 4th with an improvement by more than 2 feet at 17 feet, 11 inches! I wish I had seen it.
Overall, another great showing by both the boys and girls teams! Congrats!

Congratulations to the boys' track team for placing 2nd at the Tiger Relays. Jon Scampoli and Maxim Kruk placed first in the shot put and discus throw, respectively. Also winning their event were Nick Castorina, Eddy Corporan, Nick Taylor, and Connor Hitt in the distance medley relay. Placing second in the javelin throw was Shane Rostron. Placing third was Jon Scampoli in the discus throw and Kyle Pollock in the javelin.
On the girls' side, Abby Kowalczyk placed second in the 1500-meter run. Hailey Hrouda finished second in the javelin, third in the discus throw, and fourth in the shot put. Jamie Kelly also placed well by finishing third in the javelin throw.
Great Job by all the boys and girls who competed!

Congratulations to many good performances by the boys and girls track athletes yesterday at the League Meet.
For the girls team, Abby Kowalczyk won the 1500 meter run and placed 2nd in the 800 meter run. Savana Stevenson finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash, as did Angie Odeniyi in the discus throw. Also placing third were the 4x100 meter relay team Consisting of Tyalia Fret-Thom, Jocelyn Lichwick, Tianna Adams and Savana Stevenson, and the 4x400 meter relay team with Molly Gaklik, Jocelyn Powell, Jamie Kelly and Abby Kowalczyk.
On the boy's side, Connor Hitt won the 1600 meter run and then came back to do the same in the 800 meter run a short while later. Also winning was Nick Castorina in the 400 meter dash. The 4x800 meter relay consisting of the aforementioned Connor Hitt and Nick Castorina, along with Nick Taylor and Eddy Corporan won, as did the 4x100 meter relay with John Hartmann, Benny Alonzo, Marcus Holloway and Kaiden Turner. Placing second were Kaiden Turner in the 100 meter dash, and Jonathan Scampoli in the shot put. Sean O'Brien finished third in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles.

Congratulations to Abby Kowalczyk for winning the 3,000 meter run and breaking her previous school record by 15 seconds. Hailey Hrouda won the shot put with a personal best throw, and followed that up with a third place finish in the javelin. In the 100 meter high hurdles, Jocelyn Lichwick placed second, as did Jianna Brown in the pole vault. Placing third were Jamie Kelly in the triple jump with a new personal best, Angie Odeniyi in the shot put, and Jocelyn Lichwick in the pole vault.
On the boys side, Connor Hitt placed second in the 3200 meter run with a new personal best by over 15 seconds. Maxim Kruk placed third in the discus throw with a mark over 119 feet.
Great job by both teams!
