  • Jennifer Grigg — MSc, University of Bristol. Title: "Monitoring the African penguin (Spheniscus demersus) for conservation: Evaluating the effectiveness of spatial fisheries management and investigating relationships between foraging behaviour and reproductive success". Supervised with Marc Holderied (UoB) and Gráinne McCabe (Bristol Zoological Society).

Currently works as a Biologist for Environment Canada and Climate Change

  • Leanne Tol — MSc, University of Cape Town. Title: Factors impacting the breeding success of African penguins Spheniscus demersus on Robben Island. Supervised with Les Underhill and Peter Barham (University of Bristol).

Now works as a Programme Coordinator for the Island Nature Trust, Canada.

2015

  • Joanne Morten — MSc, University of Bristol. Title: "Linking body condition of African penguin Spheniscus demersus chicks to begging calls, rehabilitation success and occurrence of mass abandonment". Supervised with Dr Marc Holderied and Dr Christoph Schwitzer (Bristol Zoological Society).

  • Philna Botha — MSc, University of Cape Town. Title: "The effects of prey availability on the endangered bank cormorant Phalacrocorax neglectus" (PDF). Supervised with Dr Timothée Cook, Professor Peter Ryan and Professor Les Underhill.
  • Greg Campbell — MSc, University of Cape Town. Title: "Effects of temperature on gular fluttering rates and evaporative water loss of four sympatric cormorants in southern Africa". Supervised with Dr Timothée Cook and Professor Peter Ryan.

Now works as a Biologist for Bird Studies Canada.

  • Corlia Meyer MSc, University of Cape Town. Title: "The endangered bank cormorant Phalacrocorax neglectus: the heat is on. Understanding the effect of climate change and associated environmental variable changes on the breeding biology and population dynamics of the bank cormorant" (PDF). Now a Doctoral Student at the University of Stellenbosch.

2012

Graduated with an MSc in Conservation Biology from the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology in 2013/2014. Now a Doctoral Student at the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology.

  • Jennifer Roberts BSc Honours, University of Cape Town. Title: "Link between temperature and nesting behaviour in the endangered bank cormorant Phalacrocorax neglectus". Supervised with Dr Timothee Cook, Professor Peter Ryan and Professor Les Underhill.

Graduated with an MSc by Research from the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology in 2016, having volunteered for the University of Oxford's seabird programme on Skomer Island (UK) in early 2013.
