If you want a wireless gaming headset built for positional audio and in-game chat on PC and PlayStation, choose Razer Nari Essential; if you need a TV-focused wireless headphone set for private, late-night watching with a charging dock and long battery life, choose Earbay Headphones.

Razer Nari Essential vs Earbay Headphones at a Glance

• Razer Nari Essential — biggest strength: THX Spatial Audio simulates sound in a 360° sphere, so you get directional cues like enemy footsteps and gunfire, plus an auto-adjusting headband and swivel cups for long sessions.

• Razer Nari Essential — biggest trade-off: It's a gaming-first headset (PC, PS4, PS5 only), and the 16-hour battery is modest compared to a TV headphone built for week-long watching.

• Earbay Headphones — biggest strength: Up to 40 hours of playback with a 2-in-1 transmitter/charging base, plus optical, 3.5mm AUX, RCA and Bluetooth 5.4 connections for almost any TV.

• Earbay Headphones — biggest trade-off: It's designed around TV and home entertainment, not competitive gaming — there's no spatial audio mode and connectivity centers on a transmitter base rather than a gaming dongle.

• Pick Razer Nari Essential if you game on PC or PlayStation and want wireless positional audio with a flip-to-mute mic.

• Pick Earbay Headphones if you want private TV listening for yourself or a parent, with simple setup and a dock that recharges on contact.

Razer Nari Essential: Who It's For

The Nari Essential is a wireless over-ear headset that leans hard into gaming. Its headline feature is THX Spatial Audio, which simulates sound in a 360° sphere around your head. In practice, that means directional information matters: the footsteps of an approaching enemy, a bomber overhead, a shot from behind. If you play shooters, battle royales or anything where hearing where something is gives you an edge, that's the whole point of this headset. The 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range, 32 Ω impedance and 107 dB sensitivity are standard gaming-headset numbers — nothing exotic, but well matched to the 2.4 GHz wireless connection that Razer rates for up to 40 ft / 12 m with lag-free performance.

Comfort is clearly a priority in the design. The auto-adjusting headband adapts to the shape of your head, and the swivel cups let the earcups rotate to sit flat. Between that and the over-ear fit with cooling gel cushions described in the product materials, the Nari Essential is built for marathon sessions rather than quick pickups. The controls are on the headset itself: a volume wheel and a mic mute button, so you're not alt-tabbing to adjust anything. The mic flips outward when you need it and collapses when you don't, and it's noise cancelling so your squad hears you rather than your room.

The trade-offs are real, though. This is a PC, PS4 and PS5 headset only — if you're on Xbox or you want something for TV, look elsewhere. Battery life is 16 hours, which is fine for several evenings of gaming but not the week-long stamina of a dedicated TV headphone. It charges over micro USB 2.0, an older connector you'll want a spare cable for. And it weighs 433 g, which is on the heavier side for an over-ear headset. In my opinion, buy it if you game on PC or PlayStation and want wireless spatial audio with a flip mic; skip it if your main use is watching TV or if you're on Xbox.

Earbay Headphones: Who It's For

The Earbay set is a different animal entirely. It's a wireless TV headphone system built around a transmitter that doubles as a charging base and headset stand. The core idea is private listening: you watch a midnight movie marathon at full volume while the rest of the house sleeps. The product materials frame it explicitly as TV headphones for seniors, and the setup reflects that — you connect the transmitter to your TV with optical, 3.5mm AUX or RCA cables (all included), power both devices on, and you're done. If your TV lacks those ports, Bluetooth 5.4 is the fallback.

Battery is where Earbay runs away with it: up to 40 hours of continuous use on a single charge, which covers roughly a week of daily TV viewing, and the 2-in-1 base recharges the headset when you set it down. That's the kind of routine that suits a living-room device — you never think about charging it, you just hang it up. Latency is rated under 40 ms over Bluetooth 5.4, so lip-sync on live sports, action movies and news stays tight, and the wireless range is up to 30 m / 100 ft, enough to walk to the kitchen mid-show without the audio dropping.

Sound is described as HIFI stereo with a dynamic driver covering 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz and 32 Ω impedance — the same nominal range as the Razer, tuned for clarity and dialogue rather than positional gaming cues. The over-ear pads are protein leather over high-density memory foam, shaped to sit around the ear without pressure, which matters when you wear them through a two-hour film. Noise control is environmental noise cancellation, and the controls are push-button. The catch: this is a home-entertainment product. There's no spatial audio mode, no boom mic, and no gaming dongle. In my opinion, buy it if you want private TV audio, especially for a parent or grandparent who struggles with TV speakers; skip it if gaming chat and positional audio are what you're after.

Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?

• Best for gaming audio → Razer Nari Essential. THX Spatial Audio's 360° sound sphere is the single biggest differentiator here.

• Best for battery life → Earbay Headphones. 40 hours versus 16 hours is not close, and the charging base makes topping up effortless.

• Best for TV and movie watching → Earbay Headphones. Optical, AUX and RCA inputs plus a transmitter base are purpose-built for a television.

• Best for in-game chat → Razer Nari Essential. The flip-out noise cancelling mic is designed for voice comms; the Earbay has no boom mic.

• Best for late-night, no-disturbance listening → Earbay Headphones. Private TV audio without waking the household is its whole reason to exist.

• Best for console flexibility → Neither, strictly. The Razer is PC/PS4/PS5 only; the Earbay is TV-first and connects via its transmitter or Bluetooth.

• Best for comfort over long sessions → Tie, with a caveat. Razer's auto-adjust headband and cooling gel suit long gaming sessions; Earbay's memory foam pads suit long viewing sessions — but note the Razer's 433 g weight.

• Best for simple setup by a non-technical user → Earbay Headphones. Plug in a cable, power on, done.

My Verdict

If I had to pick one, I'd take the Razer Nari Essential — but only because my use case is gaming. THX Spatial Audio, the auto-adjust headband and the flip-to-mute mic are exactly what a PC or PlayStation player wants, and 16 hours is plenty for evening sessions. That said, I'd steer anyone whose priority is TV watching — or anyone buying for an older parent — straight to the Earbay Headphones. The 40-hour battery, charging base and optical/AUX/RCA inputs make it the far better living-room device. Match the product to the room, not the other way around. And check the current price on Amazon before you commit, since both sit in very different budget tiers depending on the day.

FAQ

Is the Razer Nari Essential better than Earbay Headphones for gaming?

Yes, in my opinion. The Nari Essential has THX Spatial Audio for directional cues, a noise cancelling flip mic for chat, and a 2.4 GHz low-latency connection. The Earbay set has no spatial mode and no boom mic, so it isn't built for competitive play.

Can I use Earbay Headphones for gaming on a PC or console?

Not really. It's designed around TV audio via optical, 3.5mm AUX, RCA or Bluetooth 5.4 through its transmitter base. It'll play sound from a Bluetooth-capable device, but you won't get gaming chat or positional audio.

Which has better battery life, Razer Nari Essential or Earbay Headphones?

Earbay, clearly — up to 40 hours of continuous use with a charging base that recharges it on contact. The Nari Essential is rated at 16 hours and charges via micro USB 2.0.

Do Earbay Headphones work with any TV?

Most TVs, yes. If your TV has optical, 3.5mm AUX or RCA output, you connect the transmitter with the included cable. If it lacks those ports, you can pair over Bluetooth instead.

Which is heavier — Razer Nari Essential or Earbay Headphones?

Razer lists the Nari Essential at 433 g. Earbay doesn't publish a weight figure for its set, so I can't compare them directly — but the Razer's 433 g is worth noting if you're sensitive to headset weight over long sessions.
