The Soda Ash Price Trend in Q2 2026 showed an overall increase across several major markets, supported by higher energy costs, changing export prices, and steady demand from glass, chemical, and detergent manufacturers. The conflict involving the USA, Israel, and Iran added uncertainty to international energy markets, increasing pressure on production and transportation costs. However, the impact varied by region because local supply availability, import dependence, and purchasing activity were different across countries.
The United States recorded a strong increase in soda ash export prices, while Brazil and Mexico experienced higher import costs linked to US export pricing. South Korea also recorded a significant increase because of its dependence on imported material. In Europe, higher Turkish export prices and freight expenses pushed import prices upward in Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain.
China experienced a more moderate increase during the quarter, followed by a decline in June as sufficient domestic availability limited export price growth. India also recorded a relatively small increase because local supply remained adequate to meet demand. These differences show why the Soda Ash Price Trend needs to be examined across individual markets rather than through a single international price movement.
In Q2 2026, soda ash export prices in China increased by approximately 4% on an FOB Qingdao basis for light soda ash with purity above 98%. Higher energy costs associated with geopolitical tensions added pressure to manufacturing expenses. However, sufficient domestic production capacity helped prevent a more substantial increase.
China is an important producer and supplier of soda ash, serving glass manufacturers, chemical companies, detergent producers, and other industrial consumers. The availability of domestic material plays a major role in determining export prices. When production remains sufficient and inventories are comfortable, sellers may find it difficult to increase prices significantly, even when operating costs rise.
The Soda Ash Price Trend in China remained relatively moderate during the quarter because higher production expenses were balanced by available supply. Exporters adjusted their offers gradually rather than passing every cost increase directly to buyers.
In June 2026, Chinese soda ash prices declined by around 5%. Ample domestic availability placed downward pressure on export quotations, while buyers became more cautious about purchasing additional volumes. This monthly decline highlighted the influence of local supply conditions on the Soda Ash Price Chart.
Looking ahead, Chinese prices will depend on production rates, inventory levels, domestic glass demand, and export orders. A rise in industrial consumption could support prices, while excess availability may continue to limit upward movement.
The Soda Ash Price Trend in Turkey increased by approximately 3% in Q2 2026 on an FOB Mersin basis for dense soda ash with purity above 98%. Higher energy and logistics costs increased pressure on producers and exporters, supporting prices during the quarter.
Turkey is an important supplier of soda ash to several international markets. Its export performance depends on production economics, shipping costs, buyer demand, and competition from other exporting countries. When energy expenses increase, producers may seek higher selling prices to protect operating margins.
During Q2 2026, the increase in export prices remained relatively moderate compared with some other markets. However, the situation changed in June, when Turkish soda ash prices rose by approximately 10%. Higher logistics expenses and continued pressure from energy costs contributed to the monthly increase.
The June movement was important for international buyers because Turkish export prices influence the delivered cost of soda ash in several European destinations. Importers purchasing under CIF terms must also consider freight, insurance, and other transportation-related expenses.
Future price movements in Turkey will depend on export demand, production costs, and freight conditions. If shipping expenses remain elevated, buyers in import-dependent markets may continue facing higher landed costs even when the underlying product price changes only moderately.
The United States recorded one of the strongest increases in the Soda Ash Prices during Q2 2026. Export prices for dense soda ash on an FOB Houston basis rose by approximately 12%, supported by higher energy costs and firm demand from industrial consumers.
Soda ash is widely used in glass manufacturing, chemical processing, detergents, and several other industrial applications. Glass production is particularly important because soda ash helps reduce the temperature required to melt silica during the manufacturing process. Demand from container glass, flat glass, and other applications can therefore influence market conditions.
Higher energy expenses placed pressure on production economics during the quarter. At the same time, continued demand from glass and chemical manufacturers helped support selling prices. Export prices also influenced buyers in countries that depend on US-origin soda ash.
In June 2026, US soda ash prices increased by a further 4%. Continued energy cost pressure helped maintain upward momentum, while international buyers continued to monitor export offers when planning their purchases.
The US market is especially relevant to importers in the Americas and parts of Asia. Changes in FOB prices can affect the cost of imported soda ash before freight and insurance are added. Buyers therefore need to monitor both the export price and the final delivered cost.
The future Soda Ash Price Trend in the United States will depend on production costs, industrial demand, export volumes, and competition from alternative suppliers. Stable production and weaker downstream demand could limit increases, while higher operating expenses and stronger export orders may provide further support.
In Q2 2026, Australian imported soda ash prices increased by approximately 9% on a CIF Melbourne basis. The market reflected higher US FOB export prices, which passed through into the cost of imported dense soda ash with purity above 98%.
Australia relies on international supply for soda ash requirements in various industrial applications. As a result, import prices are affected by the price offered at the origin, freight charges, insurance, exchange rates, and the availability of cargoes.
When US export prices increase, Australian buyers may experience higher purchasing costs even if domestic demand remains relatively stable. Importers also need to consider shipping schedules and inventory requirements because delays or changes in freight costs can affect the final landed price.
In June 2026, Australian soda ash prices edged up by approximately 1%. The smaller monthly increase suggested that the impact of higher origin prices continued to pass through, but the rate of change was more limited than in the earlier part of the quarter.
The Soda Ash Price Chart for Australia therefore reflected a substantial quarterly increase followed by a relatively small monthly movement. For buyers, monitoring import quotations alongside freight conditions can help identify changes in purchasing costs before they affect operating budgets.
Future prices will depend on US export offers, international freight rates, exchange-rate movements, and demand from Australian glass and chemical manufacturers.
Brazilian soda ash import prices increased by approximately 12% in Q2 2026 on a CIF Santos basis. Higher US export prices were a major factor behind the increase, raising the cost of imported dense soda ash.
Brazil has demand for soda ash from glass manufacturing, detergent production, chemicals, and other industrial sectors. Since import costs are influenced by international prices, changes in the US export market can quickly affect purchasing decisions in Brazil.
During the quarter, higher production and energy costs at the origin contributed to increased FOB prices. These changes passed through into Brazilian import valuations, putting pressure on the total cost of procurement. Freight and insurance expenses also remained important components of the final CIF price.
In June 2026, Brazilian soda ash prices rose by a further 5%. Continued increases in US FOB pricing contributed to the monthly movement, keeping import costs elevated for downstream consumers.
For Brazilian manufacturers, the Soda Ash Price Trend can affect production budgets and profit margins. Companies that use soda ash in glass, detergents, and chemical processing need to account for possible changes in imported material costs when setting product prices and planning inventories.
Going forward, Brazilian prices will depend on US export quotations, shipping expenses, currency movements, and local industrial demand. A reduction in origin prices could ease import costs, while continued cost pressure may keep the market firm.
The Soda Ash Price Trend in Italy increased by approximately 4% in Q2 2026 on a CIF Genoa basis. Higher Turkish export prices, supported by energy and production expenses, contributed to increased import costs for dense soda ash.
Italy's glass and chemical industries use soda ash as an important industrial raw material. Manufacturers must maintain reliable supplies to support production schedules, making import prices and delivery conditions important purchasing considerations.

In June 2026, Italian soda ash prices rose by approximately 9%. Higher freight expenses amplified the effect of increased Turkish export prices, resulting in a stronger monthly movement.
This difference between quarterly and monthly performance demonstrates how transportation costs can change the final price paid by an importer. Even when product prices rise gradually, a sudden increase in freight expenses can create additional pressure on delivered costs.
The future Soda Ash Price Trend in Italy will depend on Turkish export pricing, shipping costs, demand from glass manufacturers, and the availability of alternative suppliers. Buyers can improve procurement planning by tracking both FOB and CIF prices rather than relying on the product price alone.
In Q2 2026, soda ash import prices in Mexico increased by approximately 11% on a CIF Manzanillo basis. The movement followed the stronger US export market, where higher energy costs supported increases in FOB pricing.
Mexico imports soda ash for use in glass manufacturing, chemical processing, detergents, and other industrial applications. Its proximity to US suppliers can support trade, but changes in origin prices still affect the cost of imported material.
During the quarter, higher US export quotations passed through into Mexican import prices. Steady demand from downstream industries helped maintain purchasing activity, while changes in transportation costs influenced the final landed value.
In June 2026, Mexican soda ash prices increased by approximately 3%. Continued firmness in US export prices kept import costs moving upward, although the monthly increase was smaller than the overall quarterly movement.
The Soda Ash Price Trend in Mexico is important for manufacturers that depend on imported raw materials. Higher soda ash costs can affect production expenses, particularly for businesses operating with limited flexibility to adjust their selling prices.
Future market conditions will depend on US FOB prices, freight charges, domestic demand, and exchange-rate movements. A change in any of these factors may influence the purchasing cost faced by Mexican importers.
The Netherlands recorded an approximately 5% increase in soda ash import prices during Q2 2026 on a CIF Rotterdam basis. Higher Turkish export prices contributed to the increase, while transportation costs added pressure to delivered prices.
The Dutch market is connected to wider European trade flows. Importers consider product availability, freight expenses, delivery schedules, and regional demand when sourcing soda ash. Rotterdam's role as an important trading and logistics hub also makes shipping conditions relevant to the final import cost.
In June 2026, Dutch soda ash prices increased by around 9%. Higher freight expenses amplified the impact of rising Turkish FOB prices, creating a stronger monthly increase than the quarterly average might suggest.
This movement shows why importers should monitor changes in shipping expenses alongside supplier quotations. A product that appears competitively priced at the origin can become more expensive when freight rates rise.
The Soda Ash Price Index for the Netherlands is influenced by the relationship between export prices, transportation costs, and demand from glass and chemical manufacturers. Future price movements will depend on these factors as well as the availability of material from alternative origins.
South Korea recorded an approximately 14% increase in soda ash import prices during Q2 2026 on a CIF Busan basis, representing the strongest increase among the monitored import markets in the supplied data.
The increase was primarily linked to higher US FOB prices. As import valuations rose, South Korean buyers faced increased procurement costs for dense soda ash used in glass manufacturing and other industrial processes.
Import-dependent markets can experience significant price changes when supplier prices rise because the effect is passed through to the landed cost. Freight and insurance expenses can add further pressure, particularly when buyers compete for available cargoes.
In June 2026, South Korean soda ash prices increased by approximately 2%. Continued firmness in US export quotations supported prices, although the monthly increase was smaller than the quarterly gain.
For South Korean manufacturers, monitoring the Soda Ash Price Trend can help with raw material budgeting and supplier negotiations. Changes in international prices can influence production expenses, making timely market information useful for procurement teams.
Future prices will depend on US export pricing, freight availability, local industrial demand, and the competitiveness of alternative suppliers.
Soda ash import prices in Spain increased by approximately 4% in Q2 2026 on a CIF Barcelona basis. The movement was supported by higher Turkish export prices and changes in international transportation costs.
Soda ash is an important raw material for glass manufacturing and other industrial applications in Spain. Buyers must manage supply availability and purchasing costs while ensuring that production requirements are met.
During the quarter, higher Turkish FOB prices passed through into Spanish import valuations. The quarterly increase remained moderate, but June brought a stronger movement as freight expenses increased.
In June 2026, Spanish soda ash prices rose by approximately 10%. Higher transportation costs amplified the impact of the increase in Turkish export prices, placing additional pressure on the final delivered price.
The difference between quarterly and monthly movements highlights the importance of monitoring logistics conditions. Importers may face rising costs even when the underlying supplier price does not increase at the same rate.
The future Soda Ash Price Trend in Spain will depend on Turkish export offers, freight rates, glass-sector demand, and the availability of alternative supply sources. Regular price monitoring can help buyers compare quotations and plan procurement more effectively.
In Q2 2026, Thai soda ash import prices increased by approximately 4% on a CIF Bangkok basis. The increase reflected firmer Chinese export prices and steady demand from downstream industries.

The Soda Ash Price Trend in India recorded a relatively small increase of approximately 2% in Q2 2026 on an ex-Ahmedabad basis for light soda ash with purity above 98%.
Compared with several international markets, Indian prices remained more stable because domestic availability was sufficient to meet much of the prevailing demand. Although higher energy costs created pressure on production expenses, abundant supply limited the extent to which these costs were reflected in selling prices.
India's soda ash market serves a wide range of industries, including glass manufacturing, detergents, chemicals, and other industrial applications. Demand from these sectors can vary depending on production activity, construction-related requirements, consumer goods manufacturing, and the broader economic environment.
When domestic supply is adequate, buyers have greater flexibility in purchasing decisions. Producers may find it more difficult to pass on higher operating costs if customers can source material from available inventories or alternative suppliers.
In June 2026, Indian soda ash prices increased by approximately 2%. Seasonal demand from glass and chemical manufacturers provided some support, while gradual cost pressure also influenced market conditions.
The relatively limited quarterly increase indicates that domestic supply-demand conditions played an important role in moderating prices. However, local prices can still respond to changes in production costs, import competition, and industrial demand.
The future Soda Ash Price Trend in India will depend on domestic production, inventory levels, demand from glass and detergent manufacturers, and changes in international energy and freight costs. A stronger recovery in downstream demand could support prices, whereas excess availability may continue to limit upward movement.
Several factors influenced soda ash prices across international markets during Q2 2026. Energy costs were an important consideration because manufacturing requires substantial industrial energy. When energy prices rise, producers may face higher operating expenses, which can put upward pressure on selling prices.
Supply and production capacity also influence the market. Regions with sufficient domestic availability may experience smaller price increases than markets that rely heavily on imported material. China and India demonstrated relatively contained price movements in the supplied data, while several import-dependent markets recorded stronger gains.
International trade played another important role. Higher US export prices affected import markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and South Korea. Similarly, changes in Turkish FOB prices influenced import costs in Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain.
Freight and insurance expenses can further affect the price paid by importers. CIF prices include the cost of the product, insurance, and freight to the named destination. Therefore, changes in transportation costs can cause import prices to move differently from FOB export prices.
Finally, demand from glass, chemical, and detergent manufacturers remains an important market driver. Strong industrial activity can support consumption, while slower production or high inventories may reduce buying interest.
The Soda Ash Price Forecast will depend on the balance between production costs, supply availability, industrial demand, and international trade conditions. If energy expenses remain elevated, producers may continue facing pressure to maintain higher selling prices. However, the ability to pass on these costs will depend on market competition and the availability of material.
China's prices may remain sensitive to domestic production and export demand. If supply continues to exceed purchasing requirements, price increases could remain limited. In contrast, stronger demand or higher production costs may provide additional support.
In the United States, export prices will depend on manufacturing expenses, downstream consumption, and international demand. Changes in US FOB prices will remain important for importers in the Americas and other regions that source material from US suppliers.
Turkish export prices will continue to influence European import markets. Freight expenses and shipping availability may be particularly important when calculating CIF costs in Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain. In Asia, buyers will need to monitor Chinese export prices and transportation costs to understand potential changes in landed prices.
India's price direction will depend heavily on domestic supply-demand conditions. Adequate availability may help limit upward pressure, while stronger demand from glass and chemical manufacturers could support gradual increases.
For manufacturers and procurement teams, tracking the Soda Ash Price Trend, Soda Ash Price Chart, Soda Ash Price Index, and historical prices can support budgeting and purchasing decisions. Comparing origin prices with delivered import costs can also help businesses understand regional differences and identify suitable procurement opportunities.
Overall, Q2 2026 demonstrated that soda ash prices do not move uniformly across all markets. Higher energy expenses supported prices in several regions, while domestic supply conditions and freight costs created different outcomes across exporting and importing countries. Monitoring these factors will remain important for understanding future price movements and managing raw material purchasing costs.
