RawBook Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 26, 2026
RawBook is a writing app for authors. This policy explains what the app stores, what may leave the device, and what choices the author controls.
Data RawBook Stores
RawBook stores writing data created in the app, including:
Projects and project metadata
Manuscript text
Chapters and pages
Revision history and recovery drafts
Story knowledge such as characters, locations, relationships, timeline events, and manuscript links
Export records
Optional PIN lock settings
Optional writing reminder settings
Premium entitlement status received from Google Play Billing
This data is stored locally on the user’s device in the app’s private storage.
Manuscript Storage
RawBook does not use a RawBook-operated cloud manuscript service. Manuscripts remain on the device unless the user chooses to export, back up, share, or use an external AI endpoint.
Android backup may be enabled depending on the user’s device and Google account settings. Android system backup may back up app data outside RawBook’s direct control.
Exports and Backups
When a user exports or preserves a manuscript, RawBook may create files such as TXT, PDF, DOCX, EPUB, or JSON project backup files. These files may contain manuscript text and project metadata.
Exported files may be opened or shared through Android system sharing. Once a file is shared or moved outside RawBook, the selected destination controls that copy.
AI Usage
RawBook includes optional writing assistance that can call an Ollama-compatible generation endpoint configured by the user.
When a user uses AI features, RawBook may send prompts, manuscript excerpts, project context, or writing-related text to the configured endpoint. If the endpoint is local, processing can remain local. If the endpoint is remote or cloud-hosted, that provider may receive manuscript content.
RawBook does not silently upload manuscript content to RawBook-operated servers.
Users should only configure AI endpoints they trust.
Notifications
RawBook can send local writing reminder notifications if the user enables reminders and grants notification permission. Reminder settings are stored locally.
Billing
RawBook Premium purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. RawBook receives purchase status, product identifiers, and purchase tokens from Google Play so the app can unlock Premium features and restore purchases.
RawBook does not collect credit card numbers or payment account details.
Analytics, Advertising, and Crash Reporting
RawBook does not include first-party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs in the verified release build.
Sharing
RawBook does not sell user data.
RawBook does not share manuscript content with RawBook-operated servers. Data may leave the device only when the user:
Exports or backs up a manuscript
Shares a file through Android
Configures and uses an AI endpoint
Makes a purchase through Google Play Billing
Deletion
Users can delete projects in the app. Some deleted projects may remain locally for restore depending on app behavior.
Users can also clear RawBook app data or uninstall RawBook through Android settings.
Exported manuscript files and backup files saved outside the app must be deleted by the user from the location where they were saved or shared.
