The Xanthan Gum Price Trend in Q2 2026 showed a clear increase across major global markets. Prices rose by approximately 10% to 20% compared with the first quarter of the year, supported by steady demand from the food processing, pharmaceutical, personal care, and oil and gas industries.Β
At the same time, higher production costs and rising shipping expenses put additional pressure on the market. Although prices remained firm during most of the quarter, some regions experienced slight changes in June as inventories improved and buying activity slowed. Overall, the market reflected a combination of healthy consumption, higher import costs, and uncertainty in international trade.
During the second quarter of 2026, the global xanthan gum market experienced an upward price movement. Buyers across different industries continued to purchase the product for its thickening, stabilizing, and viscosity-controlling properties. Its use in food products, personal care formulations, pharmaceutical applications, and oilfield operations helped maintain demand throughout the quarter.
The increase in Xanthan Gum Prices was also linked to the cost of important production inputs. Corn and sugar derivatives, food-grade nitrogen sources, phosphates, and food-grade ethanol remained important cost factors for manufacturers. When these materials become more expensive, producers generally face higher operating costs. Such conditions can encourage suppliers to maintain stronger selling prices.
Shipping expenses also played an important role in shaping the market. Geopolitical uncertainty surrounding the USA-Israel conflict with Iran increased concerns about international shipping routes, freight rates, and delivery schedules. As a result, some overseas buyers adopted a more cautious purchasing approach and secured supplies earlier than usual.
This combination of production costs, demand, and logistics kept the market firm during much of Q2 2026. However, the price movement was not exactly the same in every country. Import-dependent markets were particularly affected by freight costs, while domestic market conditions also influenced prices in countries with local distribution networks.
China remained an important source of food-grade xanthan gum for international buyers during the quarter. The export price of xanthan gum on an FOB Qingdao basis increased by approximately 10% compared with Q1 2026.
The main reason for the increase was healthy export demand. Buyers from several international markets continued to depend on Chinese supplies, supporting export activity. At the same time, higher costs for corn and sugar derivatives, food-grade nitrogen sources, phosphates, and food-grade ethanol contributed to firm supplier offers.
Uncertainty in international shipping also encouraged some buyers to arrange purchases more carefully. When buyers are concerned about transportation delays or rising freight costs, they may prefer to secure cargoes earlier instead of waiting for prices to change.
However, the market showed some relief in June 2026. Chinese xanthan gum prices declined by around 2% as export demand softened and inventories improved. This suggests that the earlier price increase began to lose some momentum toward the end of the quarter.
India recorded one of the strongest price increases among the markets covered in this review. Domestic food-grade xanthan gum prices in Ahmedabad increased by approximately 20% compared with the previous quarter.
Demand from food processing, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturers supported domestic consumption. Xanthan gum is used in many formulations where consistent thickness, texture, and stability are important. This broad range of applications helped maintain purchasing interest during Q2 2026.
Higher production-related costs also contributed to the upward movement. When input materials become more expensive, suppliers may adjust their prices to protect operating margins. In addition, uncertainty surrounding international trade encouraged cautious procurement among buyers.
Despite the strong quarterly increase, the market showed a slight correction in June. Xanthan gum prices in India declined by around 2% as downstream demand moderated and domestic supply improved.
This change indicates that prices can ease even after a strong quarterly rise. Better product availability and slower purchasing activity may reduce pressure on suppliers, especially when buyers have already secured sufficient stocks.
Brazil experienced an approximately 14% increase in imported xanthan gum prices during Q2 2026. The reported price basis was CIF Santos for food-grade material imported from China.
The main factor behind the increase was the rise in freight charges. Higher transportation costs increased the landed cost of imported xanthan gum, making deliveries more expensive for Brazilian buyers. Geopolitical uncertainty also contributed to concerns about shipping routes and international logistics.
For import-dependent markets, the final purchase cost depends on more than the product's export price. Freight, insurance, handling, and other import-related expenses can all affect the amount buyers ultimately pay. Even if the product price changes only moderately, an increase in transportation costs can make the total landed price rise considerably.
In June 2026, Brazilian xanthan gum prices increased by around 2%. Unlike several other markets, Brazil continued to experience upward pressure because freight costs remained firm and import demand supported CIF Santos prices.
This shows how international transportation conditions can influence local pricing, particularly when buyers rely heavily on overseas suppliers.
In Indonesia, imported food-grade xanthan gum prices increased by approximately 10% in Q2 2026 compared with Q1. The reported price basis was CIF Tanjung Priok for material imported from China.
Demand from the food processing industry supported import activity throughout the quarter. Manufacturers require reliable supplies of ingredients to maintain production schedules, and consistent demand helped keep the market firm.
Freight charges also increased moderately, adding to the landed cost of imported material. Shipping uncertainty associated with geopolitical developments encouraged buyers to pay closer attention to delivery schedules and procurement decisions.
However, the market became slightly softer in June. Xanthan gum prices in Indonesia declined by around 2% as buying activity slowed and import offers weakened.
The June movement suggests that buyers became more selective after the earlier price increase. When purchasing interest slows and suppliers have sufficient material available, prices may come under pressure even if overall demand remains reasonably healthy.
Vietnam recorded an approximately 10% increase in imported xanthan gum prices during Q2 2026. The reported prices were based on CIF Haiphong for food-grade xanthan gum imported from China.
Healthy downstream demand supported imports during the quarter. Food manufacturers and other industrial users continued to require xanthan gum for applications involving thickness, stability, and product consistency.
International prices remained firm, but moderate reductions in freight charges helped offset part of the increase in product costs. This provided some relief to importers compared with markets where transportation expenses rose more sharply.
Geopolitical uncertainty continued to influence shipping conditions and procurement decisions. Buyers needed to consider not only the supplier's quotation but also the possibility of changes in freight rates and delivery times.
In June 2026, Vietnamese xanthan gum prices declined by around 2%. Easing freight costs and softer downstream demand contributed to the correction. This movement suggests that lower transportation expenses can help reduce price pressure when purchasing activity also slows.
Turkey's imported food-grade xanthan gum prices increased by approximately 10% in Q2 2026. The reported price basis was CIF Izmir for material sourced from China.
Demand from food and industrial sectors supported market activity. At the same time, moderate increases in freight charges raised the landed cost of imported products. Uncertainty surrounding international shipping also encouraged buyers to pay closer attention to supply arrangements.
For Turkish importers, the combination of steady demand and higher transportation expenses helped maintain firm prices throughout most of the quarter. When suppliers face greater logistics risks, they may also take a more cautious approach to quotations and delivery commitments.
In June 2026, xanthan gum prices in Turkey increased by around 2%. Freight costs remained elevated, while buying activity strengthened. These factors helped sustain upward pressure despite the broader market's mixed performance at the end of the quarter.
In the United States, imported food-grade xanthan gum prices increased by approximately 12% compared with Q1 2026. The reported price basis was CIF Houston for xanthan gum imported from China.
Demand from the food, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical industries supported market activity. These industries use xanthan gum for different purposes, including viscosity control, formulation stability, and certain industrial applications.
Higher freight charges were a major factor behind the quarterly price increase. Geopolitical uncertainty affected shipping conditions and contributed to higher logistics expenses. As a result, the cost of bringing imported material into the United States increased.
In June 2026, US xanthan gum prices increased by around 2%. Freight costs remained elevated, and continued import demand supported prices on a CIF Houston basis.
The US market illustrates how steady industrial demand and higher transportation costs can work together to keep imported material expensive. Even when buyers become more cautious, persistent demand from several end-use sectors can provide support to supplier quotations.
The Xanthan Gum Price Chart for Q2 2026 reflects a broadly upward trend across the major markets covered in this review. Quarterly price increases ranged from approximately 10% in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Turkey to around 20% in India.
Brazil recorded an increase of approximately 14%, while the United States experienced a rise of around 12%. These differences show that global market conditions affected each country differently, depending on local demand, import dependence, and transportation expenses.
The Xanthan Gum Price Index remained supported by healthy downstream consumption and elevated production costs during most of the quarter. In practical terms, this means the market maintained an upward bias even though the size of the increase varied by region.
June brought a more mixed picture. China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam recorded price declines of around 2%, while Brazil, Turkey, and the United States experienced increases of approximately 2%.
These figures should be read as reported market movements rather than exact absolute price comparisons. FOB prices represent goods priced for export at the specified origin, while CIF prices include the cost of the goods, insurance, and freight to the named destination. Domestic prices, such as those reported for Ahmedabad, follow a different market basis. Therefore, percentage changes are more useful for understanding the direction of each market than for comparing absolute prices across countries.
The Xanthan Gum Price Forecast depends on several important factors, including demand from end-use industries, raw material costs, freight rates, inventory levels, and international trade conditions.
If food processing, pharmaceutical, personal care, and oil and gas demand remains healthy, the market may continue to receive support. Higher costs for corn and sugar derivatives and other production inputs could also limit the ability of suppliers to reduce prices significantly.
Freight costs will remain an important factor for import-dependent markets. If shipping conditions improve and transportation expenses decline, landed costs could ease in countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, and the United States. However, renewed shipping disruptions or higher freight charges could keep import prices elevated.
Inventory levels will also influence future price movements. When buyers hold sufficient stocks, they may delay new purchases and negotiate more carefully. This can reduce short-term price pressure. On the other hand, lower inventories combined with stronger demand could encourage buyers to replenish stocks more quickly.
The June 2026 price movements show why a single global forecast should be treated with caution. Some markets experienced small declines, while others continued to record increases. The direction of prices after Q2 will therefore depend on how local supply and demand interact with international costs.
Overall, the outlook remains sensitive to raw material expenses, shipping conditions, and purchasing activity. Without confirmed information about future costs and demand, it would be premature to assume that prices will continue rising at the same pace or that the June corrections will become a lasting trend.
