The Used Cooking Oil Price Trend in the second quarter of 2026 showed a clear rise followed by a sharp correction in June. From April to June, prices increased across all five monitored export markets as limited collection volumes and steady demand from biodiesel and renewable fuel producers supported the market. India and Malaysia recorded the strongest quarterly gains, while Vietnam, Peru, and Singapore also experienced higher prices.Β
However, the market changed direction in June when buyers reduced their purchasing activity after several weeks of rising values. Used cooking oil has become an important raw material for the renewable fuel industry. Instead of allowing used oil from restaurants, hotels, food processing units, and commercial kitchens to go to waste, collectors can gather it and supply it to processors.Β
After suitable treatment, this material can be used as a feedstock for biodiesel and other renewable fuel production. As interest in alternative fuels continues, the availability of used cooking oil has become an important factor influencing market prices. The latest Used Cooking Oil Prices movement in Q2 2026 highlights how supply availability, collection costs, export demand, and purchasing decisions can influence the market.Β
Although prices increased by approximately 6% to 13% across the monitored markets during the quarter, June brought declines of around 14% to 18%. This change shows why market participants need to understand both the factors behind price increases and the reasons for sudden corrections.
The second quarter of 2026 started with firm market conditions. Demand from biodiesel manufacturers and renewable fuel buyers remained steady, while the quantity of used cooking oil available for export was limited. Collectors and processors faced difficulties keeping supply in line with buyer requirements, creating upward pressure on prices.
As the quarter progressed, export prices continued to increase across India, Vietnam, Peru, Malaysia, and Singapore. Buyers competed for available material, particularly in markets where collection volumes were unable to meet export demand. This situation supported higher prices at the main export locations.
India and Malaysia recorded the strongest gains, with prices increasing by approximately 13% in both markets. Singapore followed with a rise of around 11%, while Vietnam recorded an increase of approximately 7%. Peru experienced the smallest quarterly gain, at around 6%.
The market outlook changed in June. After prices had climbed during the earlier part of the quarter, buyers became more cautious about purchasing at elevated levels. Some reduced their procurement activity, which weakened immediate demand and led to price corrections across all five markets.
These developments show that a strong quarterly performance does not always mean prices will continue rising. When prices move higher, buyers may delay purchases, reduce order sizes, or wait for more favorable market conditions. Such decisions can quickly affect prices, even when the availability of raw material remains limited.
India recorded one of the strongest performances in the used cooking oil export market during Q2 2026. Prices for Grade FFA 5% material on an FOB Nhava Sheva basis increased by approximately 13% over the quarter.
The main reason for the increase was the combination of firm biodiesel demand and limited collection volumes. Buyers continued to show interest in used cooking oil as a feedstock for renewable fuel production, while the collection and aggregation system struggled to supply enough material to match export demand.
In practical terms, when more buyers want to purchase used cooking oil than suppliers can readily provide, sellers gain stronger pricing power. This was reflected in the upward movement of Indian export valuations during the quarter. Prices climbed to peak levels as demand remained steady.
However, June brought a significant change. Used cooking oil prices in India declined by approximately 18% during the month as buyers reduced procurement after the earlier price increase. The correction was the sharpest among the five monitored markets.
This movement highlights the importance of purchasing discipline in a market where prices can rise quickly. Buyers who purchase at peak levels may face greater price risk if demand slows or market sentiment changes. For suppliers, the experience also shows that strong demand should be considered alongside the possibility of a short-term correction.
Vietnam recorded an approximately 7% increase in used cooking oil prices during Q2 2026. Prices for Grade FFA 5% material on an FOB Haiphong basis moved upward steadily as limited feedstock availability and continued biodiesel demand supported the market.
The country's export market faced a supply challenge because collection volumes remained tight. Processors had limited material available to meet export requirements, while renewable fuel buyers continued sourcing used cooking oil for their blending programs.
Unlike markets that experienced more pronounced price movements, Vietnam showed a relatively gradual upward trend during the quarter. Prices increased month by month without major fluctuations, reflecting a steady imbalance between supply and demand.
In June, however, prices declined by approximately 14%. Buyers reduced procurement after the earlier gains, putting downward pressure on export valuations.
The Vietnamese market demonstrates that even a steady price increase can be followed by a considerable correction. Limited supply may support prices over time, but buyers' willingness to pay remains equally important. If purchasing activity slows, prices can move lower even when feedstock availability remains constrained.
Peru recorded the smallest quarterly increase among the monitored markets, with used cooking oil prices rising by approximately 6% during Q2 2026. Prices for Grade FFA 5% material on an FOB Callao basis increased gradually as biodiesel demand remained firm.
One of the main factors affecting the Peruvian market was the difficulty of aggregating available used cooking oil for export. Logistical constraints limited the amount of material that could be collected and brought together for supply. These challenges prevented export availability from expanding easily, helping support prices throughout the quarter.
Compared with India and Malaysia, Peru experienced a more moderate increase. The market did not show the same degree of upward pressure, but the overall direction remained positive as buyers continued to seek feedstock for renewable fuel production.
In June, prices declined by approximately 14% as buyers reduced their purchasing activity following the earlier increase.
The Peruvian market illustrates how logistics can influence the value of a commodity. Even when used cooking oil is generated by restaurants and commercial kitchens, it must still be collected, stored, transported, and prepared for sale. Difficulties at any stage can restrict export supply and affect market pricing.
Malaysia was another leading market during Q2 2026, recording an approximately 13% increase in used cooking oil prices. Prices for Grade FFA 5% material on an FOB Port Kelang basis climbed as limited collection volumes met strong demand from renewable fuel buyers.
Regional biodiesel requirements helped maintain export interest throughout the quarter. Buyers continued looking for used cooking oil to support blending and renewable fuel production, while available collection volumes remained tight.
This combination created sustained upward pressure on prices. Export valuations at Port Kelang reached peak levels, matching India for the strongest quarterly increase among the monitored markets.
The situation changed in June, when prices declined by approximately 15%. Buyers became more cautious after the earlier rise and reduced procurement activity, leading to a correction in the market.
Malaysia's price movement shows the influence of regional demand on export markets. When several buyers compete for a limited quantity of feedstock, prices can rise even without a major change in the underlying production of used cooking oil. However, once buyers become less willing to purchase at higher prices, the market can adjust quickly.
Singapore recorded an approximately 11% increase in used cooking oil prices during Q2 2026. Prices for Grade FFA 5% material on an FOB Port of Singapore basis followed the broader regional upward trend.
Demand from renewable fuel buyers remained firm, while collection and aggregation hubs faced competition for available feedstock. As a regional trading and aggregation market, Singapore was influenced by the balance between available material and demand from buyers sourcing used cooking oil for biodiesel production.
Prices climbed steadily over the three-month period, supported by consistent buying interest and limited supply availability. The upward movement reflected the same general market conditions seen in India, Vietnam, Peru, and Malaysia.
In June, used cooking oil prices in Singapore declined by approximately 16%. The correction followed the earlier price increase, as buyers scaled back procurement and became more cautious about purchasing at elevated levels.
Singapore's performance highlights the importance of regional market connections. Changes in buyer activity and feedstock availability can influence prices across several export markets at the same time. For businesses involved in collection, trading, or processing, monitoring regional demand is therefore an important part of understanding price movements.
The Q2 2026 market data shows that all five monitored export markets recorded higher prices during the quarter, followed by substantial declines in June.
The following comparison summarizes the reported quarterly gains and June corrections.

India and Malaysia led the market with quarterly gains of approximately 13%. Singapore followed with an 11% increase, while Vietnam and Peru recorded more moderate growth.
June's declines were also significant. India experienced the largest correction, at approximately 18%, followed by Singapore at 16%, Malaysia at 15%, and Vietnam and Peru at 14% each.
These differences suggest that the same broad market factors can produce different outcomes depending on local collection conditions, export supply, and buyer behavior.
A Used Cooking Oil Price Chart helps readers understand how prices change over time and how different markets compare with one another. For the second quarter of 2026, the main pattern is an upward movement followed by a sharp correction in June.
When reviewing a price chart, it is important to look beyond the overall direction. A gradual increase can indicate steady demand and limited supply, while a sudden decline may signal weaker purchasing activity or a change in buyers' willingness to pay.
For example, India's approximately 13% quarterly increase followed by an 18% June decline suggests that the market experienced both strong upward pressure and a substantial short-term adjustment. Malaysia followed a similar pattern, with a 13% quarterly gain and a 15% correction in June.
Vietnam and Peru recorded smaller quarterly increases, but both experienced a 14% decline in June. This indicates that relatively moderate price growth does not necessarily protect a market from a sharp correction.
A useful price chart should distinguish between monthly movements, quarterly changes, and export price assessments. It should also identify the market location, product grade, and pricing basis. In this case, all five markets refer to Grade FFA 5% used cooking oil assessed on a free-on-board, or FOB, export basis.
The available information provides percentage changes rather than absolute prices per tonne. Therefore, it supports a comparison of price movements but does not establish exact price levels in dollars or another currency.
The Used Cooking Oil Price Index provides a way to understand the overall direction of the market across different locations. During Q2 2026, the index remained supported by demand from biodiesel and renewable fuel industries, even as collection volumes stayed limited.
An index can help businesses identify whether prices are generally moving higher or lower. It is especially useful when individual markets show different rates of increase but share similar underlying supply and demand conditions.
During the quarter, the broad market direction was positive. All five monitored markets recorded gains, suggesting that tight feedstock availability and continued buyer interest were widespread rather than limited to a single export location.
June's corrections changed the short-term picture. The declines across every monitored market indicated that buyers were reassessing their procurement needs after the earlier rise. This broad movement suggests that purchasing behavior played an important role in the market adjustment.
However, an index should be interpreted carefully. A quarterly increase does not mean every participant earned higher margins, because collection, transportation, processing, storage, and export costs can vary. Likewise, falling market prices do not necessarily mean that feedstock supply has improved.
For a clearer assessment, businesses should consider price movements alongside collection volumes, export demand, logistics, and changes in purchasing activity.
Several practical factors influence the price of used cooking oil in export markets.
1. Collection volumes and feedstock availability
Used cooking oil must be collected from restaurants, hotels, food service businesses, and other commercial sources before it can enter the export supply chain. If collection volumes remain limited, processors may struggle to meet buyer requirements. This can support higher prices, as seen across all five markets during Q2 2026.
2. Demand from biodiesel and renewable fuel producers
Biodiesel manufacturers and renewable fuel producers use used cooking oil as a feedstock. When these buyers maintain strong purchasing interest, competition for available material can increase. Firm demand was one of the main reasons behind the quarterly price increases.
3. Regional competition
Export markets are influenced by buyers competing for the same limited feedstock. Strong demand in one region can affect sourcing decisions and increase competition elsewhere. Malaysia and Singapore, for example, experienced firm regional demand during the quarter.
4. Collection and transportation costs
Used cooking oil must be gathered from multiple locations and moved to processing facilities or export terminals. Fuel costs, storage requirements, transport availability, and collection efficiency can affect the total cost of supplying the product. Logistical constraints were particularly relevant to Peru's market performance.
5. Buyer procurement decisions
Prices depend not only on how much material is available but also on how much buyers are willing to purchase at a particular price. When valuations rise rapidly, buyers may delay orders or reduce procurement. This behavior contributed to the June corrections across all monitored markets.
The Used Cooking Oil Price Forecast should be approached with care because the Q2 2026 data shows how quickly market conditions can change. Prices rose across all five monitored markets during the quarter, but June's declines demonstrated that strong demand and limited supply do not guarantee continuous price increases.
If collection volumes remain tight and biodiesel buyers continue purchasing steadily, the market could receive support. In this situation, suppliers may find it easier to maintain firm offers, particularly in locations where export demand remains stronger than available feedstock supply.
On the other hand, prices could face further pressure if buyers continue reducing procurement or become unwilling to pay the higher values seen earlier in the quarter. Additional supply availability could also reduce upward pressure, depending on the strength of demand.
India and Malaysia deserve particular attention because both recorded the strongest quarterly increases. Their sharp gains were followed by significant June corrections, making future purchasing activity an important factor to monitor. Singapore's 16% correction also indicates that a strong regional market can experience substantial adjustments.
Vietnam and Peru may continue to be influenced by their respective collection and logistical limitations. However, these factors alone are not enough to determine the future direction of prices.
For market participants, a practical approach is to monitor collection volumes, buyer inquiries, export activity, regional biodiesel demand, and monthly price assessments. Comparing these indicators can provide a more balanced understanding of the market than relying on a single quarterly percentage.
Based on the supplied Q2 2026 information, the market demonstrated strong price growth followed by a broad correction. The available data does not establish a definite price direction for the next quarter, so future movements should be assessed against actual supply and demand developments.
