RateHUD — Privacy Policy
Last updated September 2026
Short version: RateHUD doesn't have a server. Nothing you type into it ever leaves your browser.
What RateHUD does
RateHUD is a Chrome extension that shows a small panel on DAT One and Truckstop pages. It calculates rate-per-mile from numbers you enter or the extension guesses from page text, and helps you draft an email to a broker from a template.
What data it collects
None. RateHUD does not send any data to us or to any third-party server. It does not use analytics, tracking, or remote logging of any kind.
What data it stores, and where
RateHUD stores the following locally, using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync feature, which is controlled by your own Google account:
- Your name and phone number, if you choose to enter them in settings
- Your saved email template
- Your rate-per-mile thresholds
This data is never transmitted to us. We have no server, no database, and no way to see it.
What RateHUD reads from the page
On DAT One and Truckstop pages, RateHUD reads the visible text of the page to guess a rate, mileage figure, and route. This happens entirely inside your browser. Guessed values are shown in editable fields — nothing is submitted or shared automatically. RateHUD does not read pages outside of dat.com, power.dat.com, one.dat.com, and truckstop.com.
Permissions this extension requests
- storage — to save your settings locally
- Host access to dat.com and truckstop.com — so the panel can appear on those pages and read visible load details
Third parties
RateHUD does not share data with any third party.
