Circles of Cultural Self & Social Model of Disability
Activity # 1: Circles of Cultural Self (30/30)
By answering this activity. I manage to view myself better as this activity seeks me to investigate myself by looking for descriptor that best describe me, together with the explanation why i think it describe me. This also helps me understand my uniqueness and how my experiences differ to those of my classmates. It makes me appreciate the differences that each and every one of us hold and how important creating an environment for each of us is. In an environment where each of us can showcase our full potential with mockery and disdain.
Activity # 2: Social Model of Disability (93%)
This activity let us showcase our capabilities by identifying ways on how we could visualize our understanding of the social model of disability. This activity let me understand that the society is what limits the individuals and not the other way around. I deeple resonate with the quote of DR. Nancy Doyle:
“If everyone was taught sign language at an early age, a deaf person would no longer be disadvantaged. If towns were built and planned with physical disabilities in mind and there was no social stigma attached to looking or sounding different, then having a physical impairment would no longer be disabling.”
If we could create a the society without the biases of disability, no one would be look down upon, no one would bear the stigma of being week and incompetent. by advocating equal rights and by removing obstacles. No one would be discriminated thus creating a fair and just world for each individual not just of few.
