One of the simplest things that you can do would be to just purchase a Windows Anytime Upgrade package from Microsoft. For $79 USD you can take your starter edition and bring it up to Home Premium with out having to do a complete install of anything. You should then have a much nicer experience with Wnidows 7 and not have to muck around in the registry or get frustrated because you can't do something.
How am I able to get away with this? Well, for starters, you can open as many windows as you want from a single program. So if you want to open 15 tabs in your browser, six images in your photo-editing program, and a couple of instant messenger windows, you can do it. You won't see this warning message until you try to open a fourth program:

I can start diablo 3 on us servers, but I only have the starter edition, the seasons and hardcore are unavailable. and it says starter edition somewhere on the screen. on europe I get error 300016 that means my time has expired.
I have downloaded allthe necessary files from a windows 10 machine and copied them to my linux installation without any issue for two different language sets. (I made the full installaton on that windows machine also wtihout any issues.)

I haven't really tried installing it on my netbook yet or spent much time using it on my main machine but, it appears to be more responsive than Vista and less hard disk thrashing even with the indexing and Superfetch services enabled.
