The plot of "Officer Downe" is fairly simple: Terrence Downe was a regular, albeit enthusiastic police officer for the LAPD, but was killed in an accident and brought back to life using telekinetics. Now, he's the LAPD's special weapon: a focused, violent, driven, obsessed, slightly insane man that they can use on the various supervillain criminals in the city. The issue begins with him taking down a supercrank lab with ease until it's blown up and he needs to be brought back. But, the takedown of the lab sets into motion the group behind it, sending Zen Master Flash after Downe.

Adapted from the 2010 graphic novel by Joe Casey and Chris Burnham, OFFICER DOWNE concocts a hyper-real Los Angeles for the story of a savage LA policeman who is repeatedly resurrected and returned to active duty via dark science technology. When a rookie officer named Gable is recruited as back up, he discovers there's much more to the titular super-cop than a mindless law enforcement drone warring against a twisted rouges gallery of over-the-top super-villains.
This is the opening sequence for the movie Officer Downe, in which an un-killable officer tries to clean up the streets of Los Angeles. A team of talented animators and I were able to make this piece really come to life with neon visuals that capture the graphic nature of the film.
Chris Burnham: Officer Downe is about the biggest and baddest police officer in the history of pop culture.
How's that for an overstatement? In my mind it's kindof a throwback/tribute/reinvention of the 80s ultraviolent right-wing action hero. RoboCop meets Toxic Avenger as played by Sylvester Schwarzenegger.
