Running and Screaming is a great game to play with a large group of campers. The game begins with all of the players lining up shoulder-to-shoulder facing a large open field. Players then take turns running as far as they can while screaming. When they stop screaming, they stand in place and the next player gets their turn. The player who makes it the furthest wins.
Only one player can go at a time
Players cannot run off of the field or out of the view of their counselors.
When a player stops screaming, they have to stop in place and wait until all other players are done with their turns.
Additional Rules
This game can be a great icebreaker if you implement screaming specific topics:
Scream their name
Favorite Food
Favorite Movie
Etc.
Always keep all campers in the view of the counselors
Watch the surrounding area to make sure people and golf carts aren’t crossing the field while a camper is running
A great way to ensure that you are optimally supervising your campers is by getting one of the counselors to demonstrate how the game is played by going first. Then, they can wait on one side of the field, while another counselor stays back with the other campers in line.
Make sure that the field is unoccupied by another group, people who are not playing, golf carts, hazards/obstacles, etc.
Make sure there is enough space on the field to allow the campers to run far enough:
