Password is a classic camp game that could be played anywhere. This is a great game for campers to play during snack, at lunch or while waiting for swim instruction.Â
To begin the game, players will split into two teams and sit facing their teammate. One player on each team will be the "Clue Giver" and the other player on each team will be the "Guesser." (See Additional Rules when playing with more than 4 players)
One of the Clue Givers will whisper a single word to the other team's Clue Giver. (See Rules for word requirements). The Clue Giver who received the word will start the round by giving a one word clue to their teammate.
Using this clue, the Guesser will attempt to guess the word that was whispered to his teammate. If they guesses the word, their team will get a point and the next round begins. If they don't guess the correct word, the other Clue Giver will get an opportunity to give their teammate another clue to guess the word. This goes back and forth between both teams giving a clue and guessing until one of the Guessers guesses the correct word.
When a new round begins, the Clue Giver who didn't choose the word in the last round decides the word for this round. If both Clue Givers already gave clues, the positions are switched and the Clue Givers become the Guessers and the Guessers become the Clue Givers.
The game can be played for an infinite amount of time or can end when a team has reached a certain number of points. (First to 11, Win by 2 Points)
Word Requirements (Clues also follow these rules):
Cannot be a person's name or a brand name
Cannot be a hyphenated word (Example: merry-go-round)
Cannot be more than one word (Example: Hot Dog)
Once all players have decided the word as a Clue Giver, the order restarts.
The Guessers cannot listen to the Clue Giver when deciding the word.
When giving Clues, the Guesser cannot say part of the word in their clue as well as a letter to spell the word out.
For example: If the word is "Sunflower," an invalid clue would be "Sun" or "Flower."
In the example above: A Clue Giver cannot say "S" as a clue.
Additional Rules
If there are more than 4 players, 1 Teammate will be the "Clue Giver" whereas the other players on the team will work together to guess the word.
Make sure the campers are in the view of a Counselor and sitting/standing in a safe area.
