About University

Established in the year 2003, the Nirma University, Ahmedabad is a research-oriented, student-centric, multidisciplinary, not-for-profit state private university accredited with NAAC – “A” grade. Within a short period of its existence, it has emerged as a nationally renowned higher education institution. About Conference

The national conference on Recent Advancements in Materials science And Nanotechnology (RAMAN) to be held on July 30 to August 01, 2020 at Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The conference aims at research-based innovations in the fields of Materials Science and Nanotechnology. It would provide an excellent opportunity for Academicians, Researchers, Technocrats and Students to present their research findings in the fields of Material Science as well as nanoscience.

The salient feature of RAMAN – 2020 is to promote research with a view to bring researchers of academia and industry more close to each other. The Advisory Committee of RAMAN-2020 comprises of senior scientists, academicians, scholars and professionals from the reputed institutes, laboratories and industries around the world.

The technical sessions will have peer-reviewed paper presentations. In addition, keynote addresses by eminent scientists and invited talks by renowned academicians will be organized during the Conference.

Igniting the minds of the young researchers for undertaking more interdisciplinary and collaborative research is one of the important outcomes of the conference.

About Institute of Technology

Institute of Technology, Nirma University was established in the year 1995 by the Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF). The Institute is the first self-financed engineering college of the State of Gujarat. Four undergraduate programmes of the Institute of Technology, viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Chemical Engineering are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under Tier-I category. It is one of the most sought after institutes and has been recognised as a leading centre of education in the Country. The CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2019 also places the Institute at 8th position in the colleges of Super Excellence category at National level, 1st in the State, 9th in Research and Consultancy and 8th in Placements across the Country. Research initiatives in the Institute received a boost with new MoUs signed with CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, NCL Pune and SPRERI, Vallabh Vidhyanagar. These are aimed at enhancing the collaborative activities with R&D organisations and strengthen research in the institute. On the student front, Team ROBOCON has once again proved its merit and supremacy in the National ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest by being the first Runner Up in the National Championship ROBOCON 2019, conducted at IIT, Delhi. In the recently concluded All-Terrain Vehicle National Level Competition organised by SAE-BAJA, the m-BAJA team brought laurels to the Institute by winning the Best Skill BAJA award for exhibiting exemplary manufacturing skills. The Team e-BAJA also won five awards, including first in Sales, first in CAE, first in acceleration, and first in durability, maintaining the excellent performance in SAE-BAJA. The Team “CON-SL-E 3.0” of the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Nirma University were the proud winners of the ME Silver Cup this year too maintaining the winning streak from 2017 to 2019.

About Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the major department of the Institute of Technology since its inception in 1995. The Department is very active in teaching and research in the areas of Communications and Signal Processing, VLSI design, Microwave antennas. The broad spectrum of courses is taught by a group of highly-experienced faculty who are also researchers in their own areas. The curriculum is robust in design and content and it is in keeping with the latest developments in the industry.

Committed to excellence in teaching, the Department is equipped with state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities for undertaking R&D and consultancy activities in various fields. A firm footing on fundamentals, a large choice of electives both disciplinary and inter-disciplinary coupled with extensive practical work ensure that the students receive a well-rounded education.

About Faculty of Physics

Being a small family of physicists, the faculty of Physics is vibrant section of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. Both theoretical and experimental condensed matter Physics are the area of research. Specifically, synthesis and characterization of ferrites and magnetic materials, computational investigations of electronic, magnetic, optical, mechanical and thermal properties of novel 2-D materials and NEMS are important frontiers of research. To achieve new heights of knowledge in these frontiers, the faculty has six registered PhD students which is the essential strength. The faculty of Physics possesses 4 research projects funded by GUJCOST, GSBTM and UGC-DAE-CSR worth Rs. 90 Lac.

About Ahmedabad

Founded in 15^th century, Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati River runs through its centre. The Gandhi Ashram is on the western bank of river Sabarmati, which displays the spiritual leader’s living quarters and artefacts. Across the river, the Calico Museum of Textiles, once a cloth merchant's mansion, has a significant collection of antique and modern fabrics. Ahmedabad enjoys a thriving cultural tradition, being the centre of Gujarati cultural activities and diverse traditions of different ethnic and religious communities.
