Welcome to Raksha Kavach ("the App"), a personal safety application developed and operated by Rajneesh Semwal ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Raksha mobile application.
By installing and using Raksha, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.

When you register for Raksha, we collect:

• Password (stored in encrypted form)
• Trusted contact names and phone numbers (that you voluntarily add)
• Gender (optional)

When you use Raksha, we automatically collect:
• GPS location (only when SOS is triggered)
• Device information (for push notifications)
• App usage logs (for debugging and improvement)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
• To provide emergency SOS alert services to your trusted contacts
• To share your GPS location with trusted contacts during an emergency
• To send WhatsApp messages and phone calls via Twilio to your trusted contacts
• To send push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging
• To maintain your account and provide customer support
• To improve the App's functionality and user experience
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
• With your trusted contacts: During an SOS event, your name and GPS location are shared with contacts you have added.
• With Twilio: To send WhatsApp messages and voice calls to your trusted contacts.
• With Firebase: To deliver push notifications to your device.
• With legal authorities: If required by Indian law or court order.
5. Data Storage and Security
• Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway (cloud hosting) and PostgreSQL database.
• All passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing — we cannot see your password.
• All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• We implement rate limiting and security measures to protect against unauthorized access.
• While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Location Data
• Raksha requests location permission to share your GPS coordinates during an SOS event.
• Location is only accessed and shared when you trigger an SOS alert.
• We do not continuously track or store your location in the background.
7. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) 2023, you have the right to:
• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for data processing

To delete your Raksha Kavach account,

Subject: Delete Account Request
Include your registered phone number.
Data deleted within 7 days.
9. Data Retention
• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• SOS event logs are retained for 90 days for safety and debugging purposes.
• Upon account deletion, your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Raksha uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
• Twilio — for WhatsApp messages and voice calls (twilio.com/legal/privacy)
• Firebase (Google) — for push notifications (firebase.google.com/support/privacy)
• Railway — for server hosting (railway.app/legal/privacy)
11. Disclaimer of Liability
Raksha is a best-effort personal safety assistance tool. It does not guarantee alert delivery in all circumstances. Factors including network connectivity, device settings, third-party service availability, and battery life may affect functionality. Users should not rely solely on Raksha for emergency assistance. Always contact emergency services (Dial 112) directly in life-threatening situations.
12. Children's Privacy
Children's Privacy
Raksha Kavach is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately. Users between 13-17 should have parental consent before using this app.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App or via the registered phone number. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
