On Day 1 of the Regional Echo of the Technology Commercialization and Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation Mentorship Series, held on May 28, 2025, participants from CSU, CSU-Cabadbaran, ASSCAT, and NEMSU gathered at Oceanpoint Resort, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. Opening messages from Project III Leader Ms. Jenelyn Asis and RAISE Program Leader Prof. Kenneth Ciudad emphasized the role of commercialization in delivering research impact to communities. Sessions featured experts from FDA-Caraga discussing food production regulations, licensing, and GMP; Engr. Juven Luzorata presenting AMTEC’s testing framework; Mr. Dean Joshua Solis highlighting the startup legal framework under RA 11337; and Mr. Virgilio Ombao tackling the principles of commercialization and technology assessment. The day concluded with an engaging Q&A with speakers.
Day 2, on May 29, 2025, focused on building participants’ practical skills in assessing and positioning their innovations for the market. Ms. Angelica Labiano introduced the concepts of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Commercial Readiness Level (CRL), followed by a workshop where participants calculated these levels for their technologies. Ms. Charisse Galusan then guided participants on developing strong value propositions, which they crafted and presented in group activities. Prof. Rodel Oclarit capped the day with a business planning workshop, where attendees developed and shared business plans for their technologies, receiving feedback for improvement.
On May 30, 2025, the final day featured advanced topics to help move technologies closer to commercialization. Ms. Hannah Faye Capoy facilitated a session on business model development using the Business Model Canvas, allowing participants to present and critique their outputs. This was followed by Prof. Kenneth Ciudad’s hands-on workshop on technology license agreements and valuation, equipping participants with knowledge on protecting and pricing their innovations. Overall, the three-day echo training provided comprehensive mentorship to enhance commercialization capacity and bridge the gap between research innovations and market adoption in Caraga.
