Senior Project Associate
I am a Senior Project Associate at the Centre of Excellence on LiFi (CoE-LiFi), Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi. Prior to this role, I have completed my Ph.D., focusing on the design and development of experimental prototypes for solar panel-based optical wireless communication receivers to support sustainable and energy-efficient networking applications.
As a researcher within the CoE-LiFi and the WiROCOMM Research Group, my work centers on next-generation optical wireless communication systems, with particular emphasis on vehicular platooning, dead-zone mitigation in visible light communication (VLC), and point-to-point solar-enabled communication links for indoor and outdoor environments. My research aims to develop low-power, scalable, and intelligent communication systems capable of supporting emerging smart mobility and infrastructure applications.
Under the guidance of Prof. Vivek Ashok Bohara (Prof. IIIT-D) and Prof. Anand Srivastava (VC NSUT), and in collaboration with Dr. Abhijit Mitra (Assistant Prof. IIIT-D) and Mr. Deepak Solanki (CEO, Velmenni), I contribute to both theoretical and applied research spanning simulation-driven modeling, experimental validation, and real-world prototyping of optical wireless communication systems.
My research has been published in leading journals, including the IEEE IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (T-ITS), IEEE Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT) and Optics Letters, with contributions focused on solar-enabled VLC systems and hybrid optical communication links. I have also presented my work at premier international conferences such as IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC), IEEE Future Networks World Forum (FNWF), IEEE ANTS, and COMSNETS. In addition, I am a co-inventor on a patent related to solar panel-based communication receivers, reflecting the translational and practical impact of my research.
My work has received several recognitions and awards, including Best Demo Award at COMSNETS 2026, First Place at the IEEE Communications Society Student Tech Leadership Conference (2024), Best Demo Runner-Up at COMSNETS 2025, an Honorable Mention at IEEE ANTS 2024, and First Prize at the IIIT-Delhi Research, Innovation & Incubation Showcase Events (RIISE) 2024. I was also honored with the Dean’s Research Excellence Award by IIIT-Delhi in 2022 and awarded the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in 2019.
Beyond academic publications, my research prototypes and demonstrations have been showcased at major national and international forums, including the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, and the Army Management Studies Board (AMSB) Seminar. These demonstrations highlighted the potential of solar panel-based optical wireless systems for both civilian and defense communication applications. My work has additionally been featured at IIIT-Delhi’s RIISE events and has received media coverage from prominent publications such as The Hindu, Dainik Jagran, and Navbharat Times.
I am also actively involved in standardization and policy-oriented research initiatives through the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) and the IEEE Research, Standards, and Strategy Affinity Group (IEEE RRSA). These activities focus on advancing the integration of solar-enabled optical wireless communication technologies into future communication standards to support sustainable and inclusive connectivity solutions.
In addition, I am an active member of IEEE, including the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA), enabling collaboration with global research communities in optical and wireless communications.
I completed my Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from ITS Enginnering College, Greater Noida, followed by a Master of Technology from Jamia Millia Islamia, where I specialized in optical sensor design. This academic foundation led naturally into my doctoral research at IIIT-Delhi, where my work focuses on innovative visible light communication receiver technologies for smart mobility and sustainable networking applications.
