Ragnar Freij-Hollanti

I am a University Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis of Aalto University in the capital region of Finland. Previously I have been a PhD student with Jeff Steif and Johan Wästlund at Chalmers University of Technology, and a visiting senior researcher with Antonia Wachter-Zeh at the Technical University of Munich. I spend my free time running and going to the theatre, and I support GAIS and Union Berlin in football. I have a wife and two cats. The picture on the right was taken shortly before midnight in Tromsø, Norway.

I am a co-organizer of the

I am also a frequent visitor of the

My research revolves around combinatorial and algebraic methods (and in a weak sense geometrical - I like it when pictures can be drawn) in coding theory. I often take inspiration from questions regarding privacy and security in distributed systems for storage and computation, but equally often from open conjectures in polytope and matroid theory. My most reliably updated list of publications is at Google Scholar.

As a lecturer, you will primarily see me teaching:

Feel free to contact me if you want to write a thesis (BSc, MSc or PhD) in combinatorics or coding theory under my supervision. I do not always have time to accept new students, but I always have time for a nice chat about math.
