This Privacy Policy explains how RAFT – Food Label Scanner (“RAFT”, “the App”) handles information when you use the application.
RAFT is developed and published by SR INTERACTIVE.
SR INTERACTIVE is committed to protecting user privacy and following a data-minimization approach. RAFT does not require users to create an account, does not display third-party advertisements, and SR INTERACTIVE does not operate servers for collecting or storing personal user profiles through the App.
RAFT does not require registration or the creation of a user account.
SR INTERACTIVE does not intentionally request or maintain a database containing personal information such as:
name;
email address;
telephone number;
home address;
passwords;
contacts;
financial or payment information;
precise location;
photographs or personal media;
personal health records.
RAFT does not create advertising profiles about its users.
SR INTERACTIVE does not sell or rent personal information.
Certain technical information may nevertheless be transmitted to third-party services when necessary to provide a feature requested by the user. These situations are explained below.
RAFT requires an internet connection for features that retrieve information about food products.
When a user scans a barcode, the barcode identifier may be transmitted over the internet to an external food-product database so that RAFT can retrieve information associated with that product.
Internet connectivity is used to provide application functionality and is not used by SR INTERACTIVE to serve targeted advertising or create advertising profiles.
RAFT communicates with supported online services using secure network connections, such as HTTPS, where available.
RAFT uses product data provided by Open Food Facts, an independent collaborative food-products database.
When you scan a food product, RAFT may transmit the scanned barcode identifier to Open Food Facts to search for the corresponding product.
Depending on what information is available for a particular product, RAFT may retrieve data including:
product name;
brand;
product image;
ingredients;
allergens;
nutritional values;
food additives;
Nutri-Score;
and other available product information.
The barcode is transmitted for the purpose of identifying the product requested by the user.
SR INTERACTIVE does not control the Open Food Facts database and cannot guarantee that information obtained from it is complete, current, accurate, or error-free.
Open Food Facts is an independent third-party service and operates according to its own terms, infrastructure, and privacy practices.
As with ordinary internet communications, third-party servers may receive technical network information necessary to process a request, such as an IP address and request metadata.
RAFT does not use Open Food Facts requests for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Product information obtained from Open Food Facts should always be compared with the information printed on the physical product packaging.
Open Food Facts Privacy Policy
RAFT requests access to the device camera for the purpose of scanning product barcodes.
Camera access is used to detect and read barcodes.
SR INTERACTIVE does not operate a server that receives or stores camera images used by RAFT's barcode-scanning functionality.
Camera access is not used for advertising or user profiling.
Users may deny or revoke camera permission through their device settings. However, barcode scanning may not function when camera access is disabled.
RAFT stores certain information locally on the user's device to provide application functionality and remember preferences.
This may include:
scan history;
information associated with previously scanned products;
selected application language;
onboarding status;
basic application preferences.
This information is intended to remain locally on the user's device and is not stored in a RAFT user account or personal database operated by SR INTERACTIVE.
RAFT uses local device storage technologies, such as application preferences, to provide these functions.
Users can delete individual products from the History section of RAFT.
Local application data may also be removed by clearing RAFT's application storage or uninstalling the App, subject to the behavior of the user's operating system and device.
RAFT's Android configuration currently disables application backup through android:allowBackup="false".
RAFT does not currently require or provide user accounts.
Users do not need to register or provide a name, email address, telephone number, password, or other registration information to use the App.
Because SR INTERACTIVE does not maintain RAFT user accounts on its servers, there is no server-side RAFT user account or associated personal user profile for SR INTERACTIVE to delete.
If account functionality is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
RAFT does not display third-party advertisements.
The current version of RAFT does not integrate an advertising network for displaying personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
RAFT does not use advertising identifiers for the purpose of serving targeted advertisements.
SR INTERACTIVE does not sell user information to advertisers.
If advertising is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and applicable consent and Google Play disclosures will be updated accordingly.
The current version of RAFT does not intentionally use analytics or advertising SDKs to create behavioral profiles of users.
RAFT does not use user activity for targeted advertising.
The current application configuration does not intentionally integrate services such as advertising networks for behavioral tracking.
If analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or other technologies that materially change RAFT's data practices are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and applicable store disclosures will be updated accordingly.
RAFT includes an optional Share RAFT feature.
When a user selects Share RAFT, the App invokes the device's native sharing functionality so that the user can voluntarily share information about RAFT and a link to the App.
Depending on the applications installed on the user's device, the operating system may offer options such as messaging applications, email, social networks, or other compatible services.
Sharing occurs only after the user chooses to initiate this action.
RAFT does not automatically send the user's contacts, messages, or other personal information to SR INTERACTIVE when this feature is used.
If the user chooses an external application to complete the sharing action, that application may process information according to its own privacy policy and terms.
SR INTERACTIVE does not control the privacy practices of applications selected by users through their device's sharing interface.
RAFT may include a Rate RAFT feature.
When selected, this feature may direct the user to RAFT's application listing or review functionality provided by Google Play or another applicable application store.
Submitting a rating or review is completely voluntary.
Any rating, review, account information, or other information submitted directly to an application store is processed by that service according to its own privacy policy and terms.
SR INTERACTIVE does not receive the user's Google account password or other Google account credentials through RAFT's rating functionality.
RAFT uses or interacts with third-party technologies and services where necessary to provide specific application functionality.
These may include:
Open Food Facts — used to retrieve food-product information associated with scanned barcodes.
Google Play / application-store services — may be used when a user voluntarily chooses to rate or review RAFT.
Device sharing services — used when a user voluntarily chooses to share RAFT through another application.
Third-party services may process technical information necessary to provide their respective functionality according to their own privacy policies and terms.
SR INTERACTIVE does not control and is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party services.
SR INTERACTIVE does not sell or rent personal user information collected through RAFT.
Information necessary to perform a user-requested function may be transmitted to an external service.
For example, when a user scans a product, its barcode identifier may be sent to Open Food Facts so that information about the corresponding food product can be retrieved.
Similarly, when a user voluntarily chooses to share RAFT, information selected for sharing may be transferred to the external application chosen by the user.
These transmissions are related to providing functionality requested by the user and are not performed for targeted advertising by SR INTERACTIVE.
SR INTERACTIVE aims to minimize the amount of information processed by RAFT and to use permissions and network access only where necessary to provide application functionality.
Network requests to supported online services should use secure HTTPS connections where available.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Because RAFT does not require user accounts and SR INTERACTIVE does not maintain a server-side database of RAFT personal user profiles, the amount of personal information directly retained by SR INTERACTIVE through the App is intentionally minimized.
SR INTERACTIVE does not maintain a server-side database containing RAFT user accounts or users' scan histories.
Information such as scan history and application preferences may remain locally on the user's device until:
the user deletes the relevant information through RAFT;
the user clears the App's storage;
the user uninstalls RAFT;
or the operating system otherwise removes the application data.
Users can delete individual scanned products directly from RAFT's History section.
Because RAFT does not currently provide user accounts, there is no server-side RAFT account that users need to request SR INTERACTIVE to delete.
Information processed independently by third-party services is subject to the respective third party's retention and deletion practices.
RAFT is an informational tool designed to help users more easily understand information about food products, ingredients, food additives, allergens, and nutritional values.
RAFT does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or professional nutritional advice.
Information displayed by RAFT should not be used as the sole basis for decisions involving:
food allergies;
food intolerances;
medical conditions;
pregnancy;
medication;
special diets;
or other health-related circumstances.
Users should always verify important information directly on the physical product packaging.
People with allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, or specific dietary requirements should consult an appropriate qualified healthcare professional when necessary.
Product information displayed by RAFT may originate from collaborative third-party databases such as Open Food Facts.
Information may therefore occasionally be:
incomplete;
unavailable;
outdated;
inaccurate;
incorrectly entered;
or different from the information printed on the physical product.
Manufacturers may change recipes, ingredients, allergens, nutritional values, packaging, manufacturing processes, or other product characteristics without those changes being immediately reflected in external databases.
RAFT may also provide information about food additives from its internal informational database. This information is intended to help users understand food labels and should not be interpreted as an individualized medical or safety assessment.
The physical product label should always be considered the primary reference, particularly for ingredients, allergens, intolerances, dietary restrictions, and health-related decisions.
RAFT does not require users to create an account or provide personal information to use its core barcode-scanning functionality.
SR INTERACTIVE does not intentionally use RAFT to collect personal information from children for advertising or behavioral profiling.
If SR INTERACTIVE becomes aware that personal information has been collected in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy or applicable requirements, appropriate steps will be taken where required.
If RAFT's intended audience or functionality changes in a way that introduces additional requirements concerning children, this Privacy Policy and the App's practices will be updated accordingly.
The current Android version of RAFT may require the following capabilities:
Camera — required to scan product barcodes.
Internet access — required to communicate with external services and retrieve food-product information.
RAFT does not currently request access to precise location, contacts, telephone calls, SMS messages, microphone, or financial information for its core functionality.
Permissions may change if new features are introduced. Any material changes affecting privacy will be reflected in this Privacy Policy where appropriate.
Third-party services used by RAFT may operate infrastructure in different countries.
As a result, technical information transmitted when accessing those services may be processed in jurisdictions outside the user's country of residence.
The handling of information by those independent services is governed by their respective privacy policies, terms, and applicable legal requirements.
SR INTERACTIVE does not operate its own server infrastructure for storing RAFT personal user profiles.
RAFT may contain or generate links to third-party websites, applications, or services.
For example, RAFT may provide access to an application-store listing or allow users to share a link through another application.
When users leave RAFT or interact with an external service, that service's own privacy policy and terms apply.
SR INTERACTIVE is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, availability, or content of independent third-party services.
SR INTERACTIVE may update this Privacy Policy when RAFT's functionality, technologies, third-party services, legal requirements, or data practices change.
When the Privacy Policy is updated, the “Last updated” date at the beginning of this document will be revised.
If a future version of RAFT introduces functionality that materially changes how personal or sensitive user information is collected, used, or shared, SR INTERACTIVE will update the applicable disclosures and implement consent mechanisms where required.
Users are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
