Greetings everyone. Welcome to Rachel’s Threshold!
I will use the next couple of blog posts to give you more context for how Rachel’s Threshold came to be.
Why Rachel?
In 2017 or so, a friend started accidentally calling me “Rachel.” Then other people also started randomly calling me Rachel.
There are two things you will learn about me:
I don’t believe that anything is coincidental.
I will ask God what the “coincidence” is about.
So I asked God, but nothing really stood out. “Rachel” means “female sheep” in Hebrew. So that was a dead end. About once a year, I’d revisit, but gain no new insight. Fast forward to September 2022, and people were calling me Rachel again. When people called me by an incorrect name, nine times out of ten, they called me “Rachel.”
Now I will share that my middle name is “Rochelle,” but I was today years old when I learned that Rochelle is a variant of Rachelle. That may seem obvious, but I was going by the meaning of the words, not merely the appearance. Rochelle means “little rock”, Rachelle is an obvious variant of Rachel (female sheep). Not even close in meaning.
But back to 2022. I sought God again about the significance of Rachel. That’s when I discovered that Rachel is considered a great intercessor in the Jewish faith. That’s all I needed to know. (I’m not Jewish. But I believe the Hebrew scriptures are rich in truth and meaning.)
I LOVE TO PRAY. And specifically, pray for others - or intercede.
So the connection for me was obvious. God was calling me a Rachel because of my prayer life. I’m sure there’s more, but that’s what I’m going with for now until more is revealed.
