WHAT IS MAREAS - Augmented Reality?
MAREAS (Mobile Augmented Reality Educational Authoring System) is a free tool for authoring Augmented Reality applications for mobile devices with ANDROID system, aimed at non-specialists users. MAREAS inherited and had enhanced functionality from similar desktop tools such as SACRA and FLARAS, which have already been discontinued because they have reached the end of their life cycles.
MAREAS allows the use of some preloaded 3D objects and the use of textures and audio produced by the user by uploading that material into specific system folders. The authorship of the applications is visual, but it is possible to access the generated text files and to make refinements in the applications, through editing these files.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION
Download the MAREAS (Mareas 1.8 apk) file directly from the site to your mobile device - the file will go to the "Download" folder under Internal Storage. Another option is to download the file to your computer and transfer it to the "Download" folder of your mobile device.

Download the application and print the Marker. Then go to Settings (gear) and then to Security> Advanced> Allow installation of apps from unknown sources. Disable this feature after installation to keep the security of your mobile device.
Activate a File Manager on your mobile device and locate the file in Internal Storage> Download> Mareas 1.8 apk or in another folder where the application has been placed. Tap the file to install the application, receiving a successful installation warning and creating a shortcut point to the MAREAS application.
INITIAL USE
To start using MAREAS, tap the application and wait a few seconds until the MAREAS interface appears on the screen of your mobile device
Place the marker at a distance of approximately 50 centimeters, facing the camera of the mobile device. Tap Restore and choose Default to see a sample application. Adjust the distance so the application fits well on the screen and obstruct the camera (place your hand in front of the camera) and bring the device on the table for easy interaction.
Touch an object or image of the scene and then the arrow (on the right) in the left menu to see the enlarged image and listen to the audio with its description. Touching the arrow again the image will return to its place of origin.

In case of difficulty, load the application again, repeating the process for INITIAL USE.
