All runners must be wearing the race number in a clearly visible position at the finish. Spiked shoes are not permited on the race course. Two water stations will be available throughout the course. Cups can be discarded, but not further than 15 yards from the water station. Violation of this rule will result in a 5-second littering penalty. Excessive veering off of the race course for any reason can also result in a 5-second course limits penalty. The first three overall finishers in each gender division will receive the Race Against Hunger medals. All times, awards, and placements will be determined by gun time. One mass start will be used to begin the race.
This race will also include a team competition. Teams may consist of as many runners as they desire, and can have as many male and female runners as they so desire. Teams will be scored in cross country format, with the top five runners scoring. The placements (out of their gender) of each of the top five respective runners on a team will be added together to form an overall team score. The team with the lowest team score will be determined the winner and awarded the Quinsippi Island Trophy.
Team A has 3 male runners and 4 female runners
male runners place 1st, 7th, and 21st out of men's category; female runners place 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 30th out of women's category
placements of 1st, 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 7th would be added together for a team score of 18.
