We recently transitioned to HubSpot and PandaDoc but use QuickBooks desktop version as we've heard a lot of negative feedback regarding QB web version. I have yet to find anyone that is able to integrate HS or PD with QB desktop.

Doing google searches on this matter is just confusing because some places say it will work as a desktop with no updates or upgrades avail. Even QB support said it will, then said I had to update to 2024 to continue.....

For me, the push to Quickbooks online started about 2 years ago - my last desktop purchase was almost double in price as the previous version - this year I had to make a choice. Go with the online version or find another product. After searching quite a bit, I realized that many of the accounting software vendors have migrated to an online version also - I settled for the Quickbooks online version. The interface is quite different and I'm still learning but, so far I've managed to make it work for me. Note, I was not at all happy but, at least transferring my QB Database from Desktop to Online worked. Although some of the other vendors noted that you could do the same thing, when you looked at the details, not all of your QB Data may not go and then there's dealing with different terminology and another totally different interface. I don't have any good suggestions for your situation as everyone has different needs. It's frustrating when something you used for a long time suddenly changes and you end up feeling lost or in my situation - not a happy camper. Hopefully, you will figure out what's best for you.

I am working with a client who is wanting to extract QB Desktop data to Power BI so they can have customized reports, that are updated regularly (~15 min intervals is fine). I have seen a few tools out there that allow you to connect to SSIS or allows you to connect using ODBC driver....both of these options are ideal, but a bit expensive. I found a tool that lets you extract quickbooks cloud data to excel. I am a BI developer, so I can easily develop an SSIS package that ingests excels sheets into a database, and then connect Power BI to the db. The only issue is that I would have to find a way to automatically run the QB2Excel tool every 15 minutes. Not the best solution, but the only Free one I can think of. Anyone have any ideas?

If you can publish data from QuickBooks desktop to QuickBooks online, then you can connect to QuickBooks Online in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service to retrieve data, See: QuickBooks Online content pack for Power BI. Also there is already an idea about QuickBooks Desktop data source, you can vote on it: Quickbooks Desktop Version .

Hi @v-xicai, I am attempting to do this same action, downloading the dataset from the Quickbooks App that I connected to in PowerBI Online (sucessfully), but I can't extract the data in PowerBI desktop. Any help would be appreciated!

Many applications in the IT ecosystem are still delivered to end users as desktop applications. These applications serve typical use cases, such as offline access, fast locally-stored data access, and so on. It is a challenge to keep applications up to date, to secure locally-stored data, and to control application access. As a part of digital transformation, enterprise companies are migrating legacy desktop-based applications to cloud-hosted applications. This ensures users are using the most current software versions with optimal security, scalability and ease of management.

No. QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are separate platforms that do not sync with each other. However, in addition to its mobile app, QuickBooks Online has a desktop app. Any info you enter into the QuickBooks Online desktop app will sync with your cloud-based QuickBooks platform if your computer is connected to the internet.

Intuit, purveyors of small business accounting software, has infuriated some customers after committing to turning off access to on-prem licensed desktop software or ending support and upgrades by the month's end.

One user, who asked not to be named, told The Register: "The whole thing seems very heavy-handed. We moved to their cloud product a couple of years ago. However, we still have historical data on-premises and at the end of this month the desktop product will cease to work.

Another user who contacted El Reg said they had bought QuickBooks Desktop 2016 on a perpetual license and had been told by the vendor that it was "not just discontinuing support for the desktop version, but were crippling it so you would not even be able to open a company file. They are releasing a 'viewer' so you could continue to read your company file."

"We want to assure our customers that those who have a perpetual licence (i.e. have purchased outright) will not lose access to their QuickBooks desktop product. The perpetual licence does mean that the purchaser has not benefited from any updates to the software for many years.

"Once customers have moved to QuickBooks Online or alternative financial management software, they will have the ability to view and export data from their desktop company file using a new AWS data export service which will be available until 2030."

Has anyone had any luck getting a token from quickbooks so you can use shopify? when we do all the steps in quickbooks enterprise 23 and asks for a token it acts like its going to work and then after a few mins the screen goes blank. Was on the phone with quickbooks 2xs yesterday and they blame shopify and shopify says its an intuit problem.. help! we need to go live with shopify asap. we have migrated all the info.

I author the CartSpan ecommerce integration for Shopify and a number of other systems. For the last 3 years, I've been integrating Shopify with QB POS and Shopify directly to QuickBooks Desktop. Only in the last 6 months have I begun to integrate Shopify POS to QuickBooks desktop accounting. These accounts have been QB Desktop users that began using Shopify POS and had not previously used the QB POS system. Some tweaking of the CartSpan integration has been necessary to accommodate the lack of billing and shipping information that is collected during the POS checkout, but everything has been working well. More recently, I've been getting calls from those of you using the QB POS system which is being shut down. My initial assessment was that, it shouldn't be a problem, but there are underlying issues that need to be resolved before any system like mine can be helpful. These are my findings from interacting with a number of QB POS users regarding the current state of connecting with Shopify.

I am a new customer to Shopify after years of working with QB POS. I use QB desktop. My migration worked fine. My QB web connector connects. It transfers product, vendor, and customer data, but I've only once had a successful transfer of an order/sales receipt. I'm getting a "create failed" in my shopify QB web connector summary. Any ideas?

In the last few days, something changed. the connector is now 100% exporting my new products and customers into QB desktop. Some of the orders have not synced. We had a big sale today, so I'll report back if the orders are syncing.

There are many things which can cause failures. One of the biggest I've found is not having Sales Tax setup properly. Of course there are others. In short you can't transfer anything successfully until everything is setup properly. I had a great deal of trouble with all of that. There are log files for Quickbooks that can give hints if you can read them. Here is a troubleshooting link. -in-person/quickbooks/troubleshooting/troubleshoot-integratio...

It has been a few years since I used QB online.

Ā Unlike desktop, it there was no list of open windows to switch to.

Ā Also the ability to make customized reports was very limited and nearly as good as QB Desktop.

Ihave QBDesktop 2020 seemed likethe only option was QB online, nowIfind outthat Icouldhave opetd 2 for 2023 Pro I only have 5 employees,my boss hates the reports specially the unpaid bills

Ā on desktop they were customized andso much easierto read.

Ā ifIgo and purhase 2023 pro can the last few weeks be migrated back to desktop?

I am an accountant with several clients. Every client I have used desktop quick books except one. I have one client with quick books online. It is a freaking nightmare! Reports are terrible. Navigation stinks! Payroll is terrible! I will look for other software before I will even consider changing to Quick Books Online. ff782bc1db
