Privacy Policy for Question Maker
Effective Date: May 16, 2025
Last Updated: August 29, 2026
Introduction
IT Flow built the Question Maker app as an educational tool designed for educators, students, and institutions to create, customize, and export comprehensive question papers (including Multiple Choice Questions, Creative Questions, Short Questions, Dynamic Tables, and Diagram Attachments) in PDF and Word formats. This service is provided by IT Flow and is intended for use as is.
This page informs visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information if anyone decides to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. All processing of questions, OCR text recognition, formatting, and file generation happens locally on your device. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information Collection & Device Permissions
We do not collect, harvest, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) on external servers. To deliver key features—including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), visual media attachments, custom typography styling, and document exporting—the app requires the following permissions:
Camera & Photo/Media Picker (Image Selection & OCR Scanner):
Used to allow users to select images or diagrams from their device gallery or camera to attach to questions or dynamic tables.
Used for the Text Scanner (OCR) feature to extract question passages and options directly from images.
Privacy Note: All image decoding, orientation handling, cropping, and Optical Character Recognition (via Google ML Kit Devanagari/Latin models) occur entirely on-device. Images and scanned text are never uploaded, shared, or stored remotely.
Storage Access & MediaStore (Saving PDF and Word Files):
Used strictly to write, export, and save generated question papers (PDF and .DOC formats) to your device's local storage (e.g., Download/QuestionMaker/).
Internet Permission:
Used to load banner and interstitial advertisements via Google AdMob.
Used to fetch lightweight remote app configuration parameters (e.g., ad visibility controls, app update checks) via Firebase Remote Config and Google Play Services.
New Features & How Your Content Is Handled
Text Scanner (OCR via Google ML Kit):
Extracts text and question options from uploaded photos on-device. No visual or text data processed by the scanner leaves your device.
Dynamic Table Creator:
Custom rows, columns, and tabular data entered for equations, charts, or questions are stored strictly in local device storage (SharedPreferences) and rendered directly into your documents.
Typography & Style Customization:
User preferences for question font sizes, option font sizes, institute styling, and text decorations (Bold, Italic) are saved locally within application settings (AppSettingsPrefs).
Document Exporting (PDF & DOC):
Layout calculations, page formatting, image embedding, and file synthesis are executed strictly through on-device rendering engines.
Third-Party Services & Libraries
The app integrates trusted third-party SDKs to provide core utilities and advertising:
Google AdMob: Displays banner and interstitial ads. AdMob may use device identifiers and approximate network location to serve ads.
Google ML Kit (Vision Text Recognition): Powering offline, on-device OCR for Bengali/Devanagari and English text extraction.
Firebase (BoM & Remote Config): Manages dynamic configuration parameters safely.
Apache POI & XmlBeans: Operates offline to synthesize formatted Microsoft Word (.DOC) documents.
Google Play Review & App Update: Facilitates in-app rating dialogues and version update notifications.
Data Security & Local Processing
All question papers, passages, tables, attached pictures, and saved drafts reside exclusively inside your device's private storage (SharedPreferences and local app directories).
No user-generated questions, exam papers, or student/institute details are transmitted to external databases or third-party servers.
Children’s Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact us for immediate resolution.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new app features or policy adjustments. Any changes will be posted directly to this page with an updated "Effective Date."
