The Nutshell

The Actual Nutshell

Candentia is best known as a city, on the eponymous island in the icy region. [ docs || google sheets ]

Small towns and villages can be found around the island.

Radiance is the Baroness of the land, along with Aktinovolia, another island, and Amica Porta, which serves as a connector between the two Icy Islands and the quirlicorn mainland.

Regent Radiance

Psychomyth: sighs "Radiance, we've been over this at least ten times."

Radiance: "But those titles sound too pretentious! I don't want to be an 'empress' or a 'queen'! 'Sultana'?! Absolutely not! Nor am I a Tsar, Oba, Khagan, Rani, or whatever this one is!"

Psychomyth: "You still have to decide on something..." shoves a list of possible titles at Radiance

Radiance: "Can't everyone just call me, you know, Radiance, my name?"

Psychomyth: "No. Pick something or we're going with Baroness."

Radiance: "Okay, fine! This one looks fun!"

Psychomyth: "You do realize that implies you're a temporary ruler, right?"

Radiance: thinks for a moment "Yeah, nope, not changing it! Looks fun, sounds nice, we're sticking with it!"

Psychomyth: "Whatever you say, Regent Radiance." *rolls his eyes*

Gardens of Candentia

The gardens of Candentia, are a supposedly peaceful location and a great way to escape the commotion of the city. Both flora and fauna, from all six regions (and even some transplanted from the Astral Region) can be found here. While most are quite ordinary, albeit incredibly pretty to look at, some are rather mystical in nature.

Small gardens (still large enough to allow one to temporarily forget about the rest of the city) can be found scattered all around Candentia. Each garden tends to have plants that revolve around a common theme, but there's a few that residents of the city claim are just organized chaos. Likewise, each garden tends to have at least three or four names it's referred to by, with some very heated debates that accompany them.

Notable Gardens

Palace Courtyards :: small, tiny courtyards in the palace, that the general public does not have access to
Most palace courtyards are named, typically with respect to the dominant plant species (Ex: West Magnolia)

Palace (Public) Gardens :: the gardens near the outskirts of the palace grounds, that are open for visitors. These tend to be connected to each other via pathways, although there are a few isolated exceptions. Like the gardens in the city, there seems to be a general theme that each section follows.
Potential visitors should take note, that some specimens rightly deserve the wooden warning signs posted. (Most notably, the flamethrower flowers planted after a certain Summer Solstice)

  • Garden of the Seven Regions :: a garden open to the public, split into seven sections. Each section has a statue of one of the Greater Deities as a centerpiece, with smaller statues of Quirlicorns displaying magic of the region or regional transformations of the region around it. The flora in the garden also either comes from the region itself, or strongly brings to mind that region. Stone tablets are placed around the garden, with descriptions of the statues etched into them. A rather tame garden, with no dangerous plants.

Palace (Private) Gardens :: the gardens outside the palace, much larger than the palace courtyards, usually hidden away. Many of these gardens have exquisite flowers, that tend to be quite rare and hard to find. Some flowers can be quite delicate, and rather fickle. However, for many palace frequenters, these gardens are a lifeline when it comes to surviving the chaos that is Regent Radiance and her palace.
