We investigate the effects of impurities on the unitary evolution of an interacting quantum system after a quench. For a large variety of quench protocols, the impurities become locally highly excited while the bulk practically remains in its ground state. As a consequence, the system's early-times dynamics is dominated by the impurities and new dynamical quantum phase transitions appear. We interpret this result as a dynamical analog of the Griffiths singularities in equilibrium thermodynamics.
