Quantitative Methods Working Group (EUI)

The Quantitative Methods Working Group at the European University Institute is a platform for discussing current topics in quantitative research. It is organized by Chendi Wang, Marcus Hagley and Ariane Aumaitre Balado. It was previously organized by Julia Schulte-Cloos and Giorgio Malet.

The group is open to all Faculty, Fellows and PhD researchers of the EUI.

We also co-organize sessions together with the EUI Data and Methods Clinic. Please enter your contact data in this mailing list or write to any of the organizers if you want to receive information about upcoming events.

The group incorporates three types of sessions:

  • Presentation sessions: Participants present parts of their research informally, with a particular focus on methodology. This may be a paper draft but also any methodological issue or idea for a research design. If possible, a discussant will be assigned to each session.
  • Reading/discussion sessions: Participants agree on a topic/readings which are then discussed in the session. One topic will be assigned to each session, and two or three participants will give a short presentation of the papers and discuss them with the audience.
  • Workshops sessions: Specific topics in quantitative methods will be discussed by those who specializes in them, together with Q&A time.

The Quantitative Methods Working Group was founded by Paul C. Bauer, Ines Berniell, Jonathan Chapman and Stefanie Reher in October 2015.
