LIVING YOUR QUAKER TESTIMONY

Overview

Throughout Quaker history, Friend’s beliefs have shown themselves through their actions. Early and current testimonies will be covered. How do we reflect on these testimonies today, and how can we aspire to them? Presenting material through videos, short readings, and discussion questions, this session lasts about 1 and half hours.

2. Examining the Quaker Peace Testimony (Video & Discussion Questions, 10 min.)

3. What Does Integrity Mean To Quakers? - How Quakers Express Integrity Today (Article, Approx. 5 min. Optional Videos)

4. Reconnecting with Community Through Quaker Meeting (Video & Discussion Questions, 9 min.)

5. Dreaming of Wholeness: Quakers and the Future of Racial Healing (Video & Discussion Questions, 9 min.)

6. How Jesus Affirms My Queerness (Video and Discussion Questions, 9 min.)

7. How Do Quakers View Consumerism? - How Do Quakers Practice Simplicity? (Article, 1 page, Approx. 5 min.)

8. A Quaker Vision for Political Activism (Video & Discussion Questions, 9 min.)

Opportunities for Participation

  • FMW's Social Justice Fund offers twice-a-year grants for FMW attenders and members to support activist organizations that they work with. 

  • Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) delivers conflict resolution programs to youth in the District of Columbia. For more information, see the AVP Page or the FMW Weekly Announcements.
