Her missing is to continue proving and information the Latino community of the many beneficial programs and services libraries have to offer within their communities. She enjoys outreach to the Hispanic community through translating press releases, flyers, social media postings, book talks and general programming. Growing up in a Colombian household, has motivated and inspired her to continue to provide excellent service to any community she serves.
Amanda also works as a children's librarian Trainee at the South Country Library, providing reference and readers' advisory services to children and parents. The Barbara Flescher Scholarship, awarded by the Children's Librarians Association of Suffolk County, Inc., honors annually graduate students enrolled in library school programs who reside in Suffolk County and exhibit an interest in the field of children's librarianship in a public library. Amanda says that this scholarship will help her complete her studies at GSLIS where she expects to graduate in Spring 2018 with a Certificate in Children's and Young Adult Services in the Public Library.
