Discussion
Each community characterizes something that is known in the place. It could be a water form, landform, structure, monument, or historical marker.In the Philippines, there are communities that are well-known for these characteristics.
Well-known Landforms
Mayon Volcano is found in Albay, Bicol. Tourists are attracted to it because of its almost perfect cone shape.
Taal Volcano in Batangas. This volcano is small and it is located in the Taal Lake.
The island of Bohol in Visayas is known for its Chocolate Hills. There are a lot of them. They look like chocolates during dry season because the grasses have dried up. During wet season, the grasses have grown so the hillsn are all green.
The Cordillera Region is known for its Banaue Rice Terraces. The terraces were carved in the mountain range by the Ifugao ancestors of more than a hundred years. Ifugaos plant palay as their means of livelihood. It became a tourist attraction because of its splendid and natural beauty.
Well-known Water Forms
A sea is a body of water smaller than an ocean. It has salty water because it is connected to the ocean. Philippines has the Philippine Sea, Celebes Sea, and Sulu Sea.
Maria Cristina Falls is found in the community of Iligan, Lanao del Sur. Aside from being a tourist attraction, the falls is used for the energy generation of the place.
Manila Bay is an attraction for those who want to see a beautiful sunset. North and South Harbor are found here. The South Harbor is a port area of foreign vessels/ships.
4, Historically, Pasig River played a vital role in the economy of Metro Manila. It runs across eight cities and a municipality. Now, it serves as a transportation route in NCR.
Well-known Products
Aside from a beautiful tourist spot, a community can be known by the products it produces, too. Take a look at some of the products being produced in some communities.
In Mindanao, there are communities known for their products. Basilan produces tires. A tire is made from the sap of a rubber tree which is abundant in Basilan.
Cotabato in Mindanao is the rice granary in the island. Aside from rice, pineapple is also abundant in Polomolok, South Cotabato where one can find a big farm of pineapple.
Mindanao is also known for a lot of fruits such as durian, pomelo, marang, mangosteen, and others. There are also beautiful orchids and some medicinal plants known in the place.
4, In Visayas, Negros Occidental is known for its sugar products. The community has a wide sugar cane plantation. Cebu is known for dried mangoes, dried fish, and dried squid. Iloilo is known for la paz batchoy and biscocho.
5. Palawan has beautiful and attractive beaches. Its underground water is rich in seafood and other marine resources.
6. Romblon is known for marble tiles and Marinduque has mineral resources such as gold, silver, and bronze. Bicol is known for abaca, pili, and coconut products.
7. Metro Manila is not far behind in producing well-known products.
8. Marikina is known for quality footwear.
9. Pateros is known for the best balut in town and salted eggs.
10.Malabon is known for pansit Malabon, and Navotas for seafood products because there is a fish port in the community.
