Filipinos have an inborn talent for arts. They either sing, dance, draw, paint, or play instruments. They love sports very much. The love for the arts is expressed during community gatherings. Our community celebrates festive occasions. It is during this time when the talents
There are other kinds of dances. These are modern dances, folk dances, and ballet. These dances depict Filipino culture.
Here are some examples of dances performed in our community.
Tinikling- is one of the well-known folk dances. It is originated from Leyte. The dancers imitate the movements of the tikling birds dancing over the bamboo poles.
CANAO - Originated from the Igorots of the mountain province In Luzon. It is performed during weddings, thanksgiving, or baptism of the new members of the tribe. During the ceremony, there is eating, drinking, and dancing. They also offer food to their Gods
MAGLALATIK -From Laguna, which makes use of coconut shells. It is a lively dance performed by male dancers.
SINGKIL- A Maranao dance. The main dancer is the princess. The small bells tied around her ankles produce ringing sounds while dancing over bamboo poles. Her movements become more interesting because of the fan she is waving.
Singing - Is usually part of most family gatherings.
There are old folk songs like '' Bahay Kubo'' and Leron, Leron Sinta'', kundiman, religious songs, and lullabies.
KUNDIMAN- is a love song of the Tagalogs. Some say that it came from the phrase'' kung hindi man''
