A. Classifying things
Look at the words inside the box below. Where do they belong? Write the

B. Be Verbs
Let us use some of the words in the groups in sentences.
SET A
1. The teacher is in the school canteen.
2. The boy is in the basketball court.

3. My mother and I are in the mall.
The words am, are, and is are called be verbs. They are special verbs
that do not really show actions.
Using Am, Is, and Are
• Am is used after the word I
• Is is used after one or a single noun
• Are is used when there is more than one noun and after the word you
When there is more than one noun, we call these nouns plural nouns.
