DISCUSSION
THEATER
A story will not exist without characters. Characters in a story may be a person, animal, or thing, depending on what the story is about. A character's dialogue, movement, action, and development are all part of storytelling - may it be in theater, dance, or music.
Main Characters
Protagonist - commonly has the most lines, is the main character of the story. Everything is centered on the protagonist, and what this character does affects the rest of the story.
Antagonist (or antagonists) - is often tagged as the villain, although that is not always the case. The antagonists cause problems for the protagonist, whether as an obstacle or a source of conflict.
Types of Minor Characters
Foil - A foil character is someone who contrasts with another character – usually the main character – to highlight the protagonist's personality and qualities
Static - Static character does not exhibit any change throughout the story.
Dynamic - The dynamic character goes through change in the story.
Flat - The flat character is not as complex as the other characters and often has one or two main positive or negative traits that also affect the story.
Round - The round character exhibits many positive and negative traits.
Stock - Stock characters are considered the conventional characters, such as the sidekick.
DANCE
Movement plays a pivotal role in dance and theater too. Movement helps establish a character's emotion and personality, often allowing the audience to know and understand a character more. Originally used for dance, but is now a tool for theater, Laban's 8 Movement Efforts takes a closer look at how a person's body and corresponding adjustments made to direction, speed, weight, and flow make for a multitude ways of expression.

MUSIC
MELODY is made up of RHYTHM and PITCH. Musical experiences are generally heard, not seen. Hence, a system of "seeing" music has been developed through the use of symbols that allow musicians to have a written record of music.
The musical staff is used to write down notes on specific places to indicate pitch. The kinds of notes used, on the other hand, will indicate the melody's rhythm. A symbol called the clef indicates the register of the sound - whether it is on a high, medium, or low register. In keeping with a system, pitches have been named accordingly through the use of syllables (do, re, mi, fa, so, la and ti) or letters (D, D, E, F, G, A, and B).
What is also interesting about melody is that a listener can identify the direction of the melody - how the pitches are moving - as sound can go higher, lower, or remain the same. It can be said that the melody can move in an ascending manner (going up or higher), descending manner (going down or lower), or that it actually has no movement (pitch is repeated or remains the same).
A CLOSER LOOK: MGA KWENTO NI LOLA BASYANG
Severino Reyes is an author and playwright recognized for his sarswelas ( a form of musical theater influenced by the Spanish, with Walang Sugat being the most famous) and dramas. He has written 26 sarswelas and 22 dramas) and was the editor-in-chief of Liwayway Magazine. Severino Reyes was also founding father of the theater group, Gran Compania de Zarzuela. The most impactful of these achievements were his collection of short stories, which he wrote using the pen name, Lola Basyang.
Lola Basyang's character is said to be inspired by Reyes' neighbor, Gervacia de Guzman, and has since been associated with Filipino grandmothers. These short works, featured in Liwayway Magazine as Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang, used the power of stories to impart wisdom and teachings to young children.
