Q&A
新生在找指導老師時大多會問類似問題,以下整理常見問題以及個人回答,供有興趣加入實驗室的同學參考。
面談機制?
在收到你的來信後,我會安排面談。通常會進行一至兩次,並在雙方達成共識後才會確認指導意願。若面談後確認合作意向,請寄送指導確認信給我。於收到確認信前,不會預設你已決定加入本實驗室。寄出確認信前,請務必確認會就讀本系所並加入本實驗室,避免影響其他學生加入的安排。
會兩年畢業嗎?
是否能在兩年內完成碩士論文,我無法保證,但樂觀其成。畢業時間通常取決於你自身的學習態度與積極程度,多數學生都可以順利通過我對論文品質的把關。少數延畢學生常見的原因:基礎能力較弱(邏輯或程式能力不足,需要額外時間補強);時間管理不佳(meeting 經常性缺席或準備不足,導致研究進度落後)。請避免此情況。
畢業(論文)標準?
基本上你必須清楚你的研究主題,文獻中相關方法與技術的發展以及它們的優缺點。然後你需要提出自己的想法或模型,並能撰寫程式進行模擬實驗,實驗結果須具備邏輯性,並與既有方法比較,驗證所提出方法的有效性。若你沒有經驗,不用太擔心。研究的想法與架構我會與你一起討論,你需要投入時間在實驗、測試上。研究過程中並非所有想法都會成功,試著從數據、結果找原因,調整方向,培養自己的洞察力與耐心。若你表現優異,也會獲得推薦。碩一上會給定研究主題,可從 meeting 報告的內容,選擇合適的作為你的研究主題。論文須使用Latex撰寫。
畢業條件?
一切就按照系所上的畢業標準。沒有要求碩士生有期刊論文發表才能畢業,但鼓勵參加一些會議的海報論文或是多校聯合的科技論文競賽。
meeting 頻率、方式?
每週會有一次 group meeting,由一至兩位同學報告。所有人至少要讀過 introduction;報告同學應盡可能了解方法架構、模型推導等;其他同學聽完須嘗試提問、給予回饋。每位同學都可以另約個別 meeting。目前實驗室沒有學長姐帶學弟妹的制度。
要求在實驗室?
原則上沒有強制規範同學待在實驗室的時間,不要找不到人就好。但若自律程度明顯不足,或許可能會被要求到實驗室的時間。實驗室沒有其他雜事,你的主要任務是專心完成碩士論文。
擔任計畫助理?
助理費主要來自國科會計畫經費,具體金額會依學生人數、當時經費及個人表現調整。
畢業學長姐的出路?
多數從事影像相關工程師工作。
