March 18, 2025  Aloha Maui community, the PWA wants you to know the Imi Kala Extension and bridge project has begun the design stage. There was a community meeting on March 5th, 2025, and you can see the PDF of the presentation and sign up for updates at this link by scrolling to the bottom of the page and join the mailing list:

What is important for you to know is that if you wish to comment on the design portion of this project, you have until April 4th, 2025, during the 30-day comment period to do so. Please note this is regarding the design and intersections of the Ima Kala Bridge extension design only.

Your opinions, whether you are pro or against development North of the Iao Stream should be directed to all Council Members and the Mayor's office as well as the Planning Commission.

As meetings come up to discuss any of the potential developments North of the Iao Stream the PWA will attempt to inform you via this website and our e-mail mailing list. If you are not on the emailing list, send your request to pwamaui@gmail.com

Finally, the PWA is still awaiting the potential appeal decision of the FEA for the original Wailuku Residential Community (WRC) development plans of 752 homes on the Macadamia Nut farms along Kahekili highway. This property was obtained by DHHL in 2023 and is currently projected to develop between 300 and 400 residential Hawaiian homes. As of this time, DHHL’s project is utilizing the original FEA conducted by the WRC and therefore the request by us (the PWA) to the courts for a full EIS is still pending.

The courts will decide if the appeal is to proceed and this process could begin next week, next month, next year or later. Please stay vigilant. If the PWA goes forward with a trial it will require another round of fundraising. We ask you please be prepared to help with those attorney expenses if you are able.

Thank you for your continued support!
