How to turn off error Logging in PuTTY when Connecting to a Cisco Device?
If you want to disable error logging in PuTTY when connecting to a Cisco device, you must indicate which faults or logs you want to keep private. During SSH or serial connection to a Cisco device, PuTTY rarely generates error logs.
If you understand the detailed output produced during the connection process, you can change the PuTTY parameters to minimize the level of logging. Here's how to go about it:
Prerequisite:
Download and install PuTTY on your local system.
Open PuTTY:
Open PuTTY configuration window, enter the username and hostname of the Cisco device in the Hostname section.
Set the connection type to SSH and port to 22.
Adjust Logging Settings:
On the left panel, navigate to Window>Translation.
Change the Remote character set setting for your Cisco device.
Establish the connection:
Select Session on the left panel, enter a name for your session under Saved Sessions, then click Save to save the session.
Click the Open button, to start the connection.
Enter the username and password when prompted.
Please note that PuTTY itself doesn't generate error logs like a traditional log file. If you are experiencing errors during the connection process, the problem may be related to the Cisco device or its settings.
