Hello!
Yesterday I received a long message on LinkedIn from a fellow artist.
He thanked me for publicly speaking out against replacing artists with AI. Sadly, his story confirmed my worst fears — experienced artists are now being laid off en masse. Here's what he shared.
His studio even asked them to train an AI model to replicate their unique artistic style — only to fire them all afterward.
So… what should we do now?
Let’s face the truth:
A game studio is a business. And business is about money — not about your love for drawing.
Maybe you’ve dreamed of working in game development. But let’s look at how the industry really works.
Usually, a game developer or programmer has a cool idea and wants to make money from it. They form a team — artists, coders, musicians — turn the idea into a playable product using game design, visuals, code, and music, and then try to sell it.
In other words:
Games are a product. No sales = no future.
People love games and are willing to pay — just like they pay for Netflix or a movie ticket.
Because of this demand, game studios can be profitable businesses.
But here’s the problem:
With the rise of AI, studios will cut up to 70% of their teams, replacing them with AI and keeping only a few human "assistants."
What happens next?
The market will be flooded with generic, AI-generated “perfect” images, hoping players won’t notice the difference or will even buy more.
But here’s my prediction:
People don’t buy AI art — because it has no soul, no value.
Game studios forget one thing:
Anyone can now generate the same image in 1 minute for free.
So why would a player pay for something that has no uniqueness?
It’s like eating chocolate non-stop for 24 hours a day. By day 25 — you’ll feel sick.
And when you see too much “perfect” visual content, it becomes meaningless. Even in games, people will stop paying for it.
Games will become polished, shiny, overly sweet candy.
And players will feel drained, uninspired.
Young artists will feel discouraged, unable to match AI-generated perfection, and even fans will become bored with endless overproduced content.
The true value of content lies in its rarity.
Something unique and handmade will always feel more special than mass-market noise.
So, what happens next?
Thousands of small business owners, hoping to double profits, will fire their creative teams — the very people who gave their game life.
They’ll cut the salaries of those who remain, saying:
"You're just helping the robot now."
And in six months? Their games will flop.
Of course, there will be a crisis. Mass layoffs will happen before businesses realize the truth:
People buy from people.
Only when business owners check the next sales report will they begin to question their AI-only path.
Build your personal brand.
Become a creator, a seller, an entertainer, a master — or consider pivoting to another field.
Because let’s face it — all the people who get replaced by robots still need jobs and income.
New jobs must be created. The economy must adapt.
Soon, people won’t buy “just a picture” anymore.
They will pay for uniqueness, rarity, and emotional value — your style, your vibe, and your ideas that make their lives better.
If you help them:
Learn new skills,
Relax after a tough day,
Find joy in daily life,
Feel understood and inspired...
They will appreciate you and stay loyal.
In the next article, we’ll explore how the global economy must change to respond to the AI shift.
